Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU
The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care.
Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.
Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments.
Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
Performs therapeutic nursing interventions.
Manages care of patients.
Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education Requirement:
ASN.
Preferred Education:
BSN.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
BLS - AHA.
NRP (AHA Only).
NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1+ year of experience in related specialty.
Level II experience,
STRONG IV skills (no IR team),
Bedside UA, UV, & chest tube insertion,
Managing [b]cpap (respiratory shared with hospital),
Tube feeding (NG/OG)
Universal Transfers
Epic experience
Preferred:
Level III experience
"Baby catching" (attending deliveries as nursery nurse)
Please note that there is a 24/7 pediatrician in-house, however, there is only an on-call (remote) neonatologist.
No residents/Client/NPs
Schedule Notes:
13 week assignment 7pm-730am; 3x12.5 hr shift (36 hours/week)
Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts/month (2F / 1Sa / 1Su or 1F / 2Sa / 1Su) assigned my management
