JOB CAPTAIN I and II Architectural

Job Captain I: 1 years, Good Performance
Job Captain II: 2 years, Excellent to Superior Performance
Required Education : Professional degree in Architecture from NAAB accredited university is preferred.
Licensure : Not required, however work must be overseen by Licensed Professional.
Level of Experience: Intermediate
Reports to: Project Architect, Project Manager, Production Architect or Job Captain II
Level of Supervision: Works moderately independent in production of the construction drawings with major decisions made by supervisors. Works under general supervision.
General Description:
- Able to perform all activities required by the CAD DRAFTER Architectural position
- Is the primary responsible party for organizing and producing the Design Development and Construction drawings under the direction of Project Manager or Project Architect.
- Interprets, understands and coordinates with other discipline's drawings (MEP, Structural, etc.)
- Has basic understanding of the project Contract Documents concerning Schedule, Project Budget Hours, Change Orders, ASI, and Contract requirements.
Communication Skills: Shall have good written and oral communication skills.
Level of Judgement Regarding Projects and Design : Independent judgement is expected depending on experience level but consults with their Project Manager or Project Architect on most decisions.
Mentoring: More experienced personnel are expected to help less experienced personnel develop the skills needed to be a quality JOB CAPTAIN or CAD DRAFTER Architectural.
Client Relationship: Some client interaction is expected in the absence of the Project Manager or Project Architect, but not the primary client contact.
Production of Construction Documents:
- Construction Documents : Expected to organize the production of and coordinate the construction documents utilizing Revit and/or AutoCAD for assigned projects.
- Codes: Expected to have good working understanding and knowledge of applicable codes.
- Project Schedules and Budgets : Responsible for completing tasks as necessary, within the budgeted hours given, to meet project needs and Supervisor's expectations.
- Meetings : Attends in-house meetings as required, regardless of location and/or time of day.
- Reports: None
- Quality Control: Expected to review his/her own as well as work of less experienced staff to ensure quality of drawings and specifications on assigned projects.
- Software: Expected to be proficient in Revit or on a path to acquire proficiency.
Office Hours : Standard office hours. Flexible schedule available.
Travel: None expected.
