Job Descriptions:Job Summary:The incumbent would diagnose and treat problems with patient’s teeth, gums, and other parts of the mouth. They provide advice and instruction on taking care of teeth, gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Reviews patient’s medical record, including allergies, problems, medications, and dental history.Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history.Examines x-rays of teeth, gums the jaw and nearby areas for problemsRemove decay from teeth and fill cavitiesRepair and/ or remove cracked or fractured teeth.Straighten teeth to correct bite issuesPlace sealants or whitening agents on teethGive anesthetics to keep patients from feeling pain during proceduresDetermines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule given the patient’s condition and allergies.Make models and measurements for dental appliances, such as dentures, to fit patients.Teaches patients about diet, flossing, use of fluoride and other aspects of dental careRefers patients to specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient’s oral healthDocuments the patient’s visit including dental exam, diagnoses, and plan of action.Follows up with patient regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesManages and consults with Dental Hygienist, EFDAs, and Dental Assistants as neededTrains, mentors, and supervises students and clinical support staff, as appropriateRequired Experience:Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registration:Dental DegreeCurrent PA Dentist licenseCurrent DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Certificate.Current Board Certification.Current Driver’s license required.Annual CPR training and certification.Keyword: DentistFrom: Spectrum Health Services, Inc
