The Registered Nurse in the Pre-Op / Post Anesthesia Care Unit is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluation of the nursing care given to patients in the Pre-Op and Recovery areas; all in accordance with RMG IVF/ Surgery Center Policies and procedures.This is a PRN position, in addition to weekend shift requirements 2-3 shifts per month. This position is located at our RMG IVF Surgery Center. Essential Duties:Ability to provide multi-dimensional care for patients in the Pre-Op and PACU areasAssesses assigned area to ensure that all necessary supplies and emergency equipment is available and operational. Identifies and assesses areas of patient concern, answers questions within nursing scope.Recognizes and reports deviation in patient assessment appropriately to provider, charge nurse or administrator.Reviews and carries out surgeons/anesthesiologists' orders as indicated.Initiates, intravenous therapy as ordered and performs CLIA waived testing as indicated (urine pregnancy test, HemaQue, and Finger stick glucose testing)Follows universal protocol for patient identification, consent signing, site marking, and time out process per RMG IVF/ Surgery Center PolicyObserves patients' recovery from anesthesia for a period of time determined as being consistent with the safety and welfare of the patient.Monitors patient vital signs per policy in Pre-op and PACU phase; is able to recognize a change in patient condition and notifies Anesthesiologist, Surgeon or Medical Director as needed.Additional duties and responsibilities may be required. Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited School of NursingLicensed in the State of Florida as a Registered NurseDemonstrates communication skills which indicate ability to be successful at counseling, teaching, marketing and public relations.Continuing Education pertinent to Pre-Op / PACUExperience: One year nursing experience is required.Preferred experience in Pre-Op/PACU, Critical Care, Emergency Nursing or clinically applicable care setting.All nurses will maintain current BCLS certification and ACLS certification. If not ACLS certified when hired, will obtain within six months of hire.Special Skills / Abilities: Excellent interpersonal/communication and customer service skillsAbility to interact professionally and calmly with co-workers, vendors and patients under pressure; Conducting self in a professional manner, displaying courtesy and respectTeam player; Displays initiative in helping others during high volume as well as slow periods without being askedMaintains professional appearance and demeanor at all timesRegular, timely attendance for scheduled shifts
