Seeking a well-trained, ambitious, charismatic retina specialist with exceptional patient manners to join Macula Vitreous Retina Physicians & Surgeons (MVRPS), a busy solo practice in Houston, TX. MVRPS has a main office in the Texas Medical Center in Houston (the largest medical center in the U.S.) and 1 satellite location. MVRPS strives to provide an exceptional patient experience and has outstandingly well-trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment. The practice has participated in clinical trials and is involved with the local academic institutions. Dr. Carvounis has an extensive record of presenting/teaching at the major national meetings. This is a great opportunity for graduating fellows who seek to mature past fellowship training as Dr. Carvounis has trained 14 vitreoretinal fellows while serving as director of the retina fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine and as faculty at UTMB and over 100 residents. Applications from experienced vitreoretinal surgeons are also welcome.Candidates should be board-certified/board-eligible and would be expected to have completed a 2-year AUPO-compliant retina fellowship with good surgical training (if seeking the surgical retina position) by the time of starting their appointment at Macula Vitreous Retina Physicians & Surgeons.Initial base salary is $400k with a generous productivity incentive for a 5-day working week with 1 day of travel to a satellite location per week and light call duty every other week. 2 weeks of hospital retina call per year. Opportunities for buying into ASCs within 1 mile of the practice exist. Opportunities exist for full-time employment in surgical retina or in medical retina.
