Position Summary:SENS is seeking an experienced manufacturing Sr. Buyer. The Sr. Buyer has demonstrated buying, scheduling, vendor management, negotiation, and material planning experience in a manufacturing environment and experience with internationally and domestically sourced industrial components, materials, and assemblies. This position serves as the frontline communication with our vendors. Responsibilities include sourcing materials, monitoring supplier approval and performance, monitoring inventory levels, issuing purchase orders from the ERP system, and negotiating material and freight costs. Improve supplier and supply chain performance to both increase supply chain resilience and reduce material costs and risks. Support the organization in business process improvement efforts and to enhance lean business systems and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Source materials, domestically and internationally, based on quality, cost, and availability.

Monitor supplier approval process, maintain performance records and take necessary actions when performance does not meet expectations.

Review MRP daily, place orders, generate PO’s from the ERP system and confirm PO’s. Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Implement procedures and policies for department, including the recommendation of improvements.

Work with our vendors to implement our strategic goals (stocking agreements, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), blanket PO’s).

Coordinates necessary product specification revisions and deviations as needed with suppliers.

Maintain system accuracy, including lead time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data.

Conduct searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluates their capabilities, assesses risk and qualify as necessary.

Minimize the Total Cost of Ownership associated with the purchase of goods and services.

Reviews requests for assigned materials, parts, and/or services and verifies specifications with the requester as necessary.

Assists other departments with problem resolution involving discrepancies between purchase orders, delivered quantity, quality, and/or price.

Review and modify demand forecasts for inventory items, purchasing systems, and reporting tools.

Assimilate all aspects of SENS lean materials management systems and processes.

Facilitate communication between Suppliers and Engineers to troubleshoot shortages and qualify alternates.

Reduce material costs in key areas.

Provide backup to other buyers as needed.

Resolve issues with receiving and production teams and identify solutions with vendors.

Utilize Syteline ERP system to identify and create needed purchases.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

Demonstrated ability to execute, communicate, problem-solve, and negotiate effectively with suppliers.

Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and quantities and consider vendor contract terms.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Customer focused decision making.

Detailed and demonstrated knowledge and experience with MRP systems: Planning, Purchase Orders, BOM maintenance.

Experience with international purchasing.

Education and Experience:

5+ years of experience in a purchasing role.

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, supply chain management, or a related field and/or APICS or CPM certification preferred.

Location:This position is primarily an onsite role in Longmont, CO, with partial remote work available.

Base Compensation:$70,000-$90,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience. This role is eligible for sales commission compensation as well.
