PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORKThis is a single position class responsible for administering the enforcement of building codes and related laws, regulations, and ordinances. Supervision is exercised over a moderate staff of inspection and clerical personnel, including inspectors engaged in building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical code inspection and plans examination. Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Director of the Community Development & Planning department.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in architecture or engineering, certification as a building official, and considerable, progressively responsible experience in building construction design and inspection, including supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.SPECIAL NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONSPossession of
one
