We help farmers deliver the best possible outcomes, working to achieve the balance between economic, environmental, and social value creation for sustainable and efficient agriculture.The Greenhouse Specialist, as a part of the Trait Development Team, will play a crucial role in supporting and managing various greenhouse activities aimed at addressing the efficient and successful production of seed for research programs, project teams, and regulatory studies. This position primarily involves assisting in the cultivation, maintenance, and data collection of plants in a controlled greenhouse environment. The Greenhouse Specialist will work closely with other team members to ensure that established seed production goals are met within specified timelines and greenhouse experiments meet protocol objectives by creating optimal growing conditions and contributing to the development and improvement of plants.As a Greenhouse Specialist, you create chemistry by...Cultivating and maintaining plants in the greenhouse, including watering, fertilizing, potting, and pruning.Monitoring and controlling environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, and nutrition, to optimize plant growth.Assisting in the development and implementation of experimental designs and data collection methods.Implementing and following protocols for planting, transplanting, and pollinating plants.Collecting and recording accurate data on plant growth, development, and trait expression.Collaborating with the Trait Development Team to evaluate and select plants with desired traits.Contributing to the development and improvement of greenhouse protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Following safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.Supporting the team in maintaining a clean and organized greenhouse facility.Maintaining inventory of greenhouse supplies, equipment, and plant materials.If you have...Education:B.S with 3 years of experience in agriculture, breeding, and molecular genetics experience, ORHigh School with more than 8 years of agriculture, breeding, and molecular genetics experience.Experience:Experience in greenhouse operations, plant cultivation, or plant research is highly desirable.Current knowledge of introgression, crossing, and production—gain per cycle, agronomic practices.Experience in relevant agricultural sciences, preferably in at least one of the following crops: Cotton, Rice, Corn, Canola, or Soybean.Knowledge/Skills:Strong understanding of plant biology, growth, and development.Knowledge of greenhouse environmental control systems and equipment.Proficient in data collection, analysis, and record-keeping.Ability to follow protocols and maintain attention to detail.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Strong communication and teamwork abilities.Ability to work independently and take initiative.Physically capable of performing greenhouse duties, including lifting and carrying plants or equipment.Create your own chemistry with you@BASFAt BASF, you will have the chance to do meaningful work towards building a more sustainable future.
