Ocean Career: State of Washington Coastal Resilience Partnership Planner

The Shorelands & Environmental Assistance (SEA) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Coastal Resilience Partnership Planner (Environmental Planner 3) position. This position will be located in their Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.In this role, you will work as part of Ecology’s Coastal Resilience Team, a growing group of leading thinkers and experts in coastal climate adaptation, community engagement, and strategic partnership development. You will be responsible for leading a large body of work that has national and statewide importance, implementing a vision that has been in development for decades by Ecology and our partners in coastal resiliency. You will manage a suite of over a dozen projects that advance $73.5 million in federal funding towards planning, design, and construction of coastal resilience projects. You will support other funded initiatives together with partners as part of this program that will develop community-placed coastal resilience fellowships, develop pathways for workforce development, provide capacity building grants to Tribes, produce policy papers for coastal resiliency, and develop new data-driven tools for local resilience planners and project managers. You will be the lead coordinator for project celebration events, press, and communications contracts, all well supported and resourced. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be in the driver’s seat for one of Washington Department of Ecology’s most exciting initiatives.What you will do:

Coordinate and collaborate with all partner subrecipients of funding to ensure projects are fully scoped, well planned, tracking outcomes, and progressing on time.Support sub-recipients who are implementing coastal resilience non-construction initiatives like: tribal capacity grants (Climate Impacts Group and Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians), coastal resilience fellowships (Washington Sea Grant), career pathways for workforce development (Career Connect Washington), and “Scaling Out and Scaling Up Coastal Resilience” (Climate Impacts Group).Develop, plan, and execute events and kick off meetings with coastal resilience partners.Coordinate development and execution of Ecology’s Coastal Resilience Communications Plan with a hired consultant team.Develop informational materials for public outreach and engagement purposes.Support Ecology’s Coastal Resilience Team as they develop a long-term vision and program strategy for the future.Required Qualifications:

Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalentA total of eight (8) years of experience and/or education as described below:Experience

in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, and/or program development, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related experience.Education

involving a major study in land use, urban, regional, environmental, or natural resource planning, landscape architecture, geography, land use or environmental law, public administration with an environmental emphasis, or closely related field.Desired Qualifications:

$66,012.00 - $88,800.00 annually
