Category: Media - Journalism - NewspaperPosition/Title: Broadcast Supervisor-768Details:Reporting to the Director of Production and Special Programs, the Broadcast Supervisor helps guide a talented team of directors and studio technicians while keeping to the style, vision, and creativity required for the newscasts and other special projects. As a working supervisor, you will lead all directors and studio techs and work closely with news leaders in planning and execution of WFAA’s news products.Responsibilities:Responsible for overseeing the development and growth of the directing team.Assign production tasks and handle schedules for directors and studio technicians, ensuring maximum efficiency and optimal use of resources.Maintain the highest directing standards inside the control room and in the studio.Manage projects to successful completion through effective guidance and leadership.Collaborate with directors to discuss creative and innovative options for newscasts and other programming.Be a key driver in developing and advancing the newscasts.Collaborate with station staff members and understand the show’s creative vision and goals.Work with Senior Directors on shaping the production and resource allocation.Communicate clearly with all team members, set expectations, and give mindful feedback.Conduct annual reviews of the production staff.Direct daily newscasts and other programs both live and pre-taped as assigned.Serve as primary director for all special programming outside of daily newscasts and regularly scheduled programs.Work with Director of Production and Director of Technology to help identify advances in production technology that can help improve and streamline our production process.Requirements:College degree in television, film, or mixed media.5+ years of directing newscasts.Proficient in the use of Sony ELC Automation, Chyron graphic systems, Bitcentral video servers, and ENPS newsroom system.Proficient in the use of and experience with the operation of Sony production switchers, robotic cameras, and graphic systems.Proficient in non-linear editing with Adobe suite and/or Final Cut.Experience in leading teams, giving feedback, and mentoring directors and studio personnel.Excellent organizational and project management skills.Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.Must be willing to take and follow directions.Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities.Take direction and coaching when needed and also take the initiative where applicable.Trustworthy and able to maintain a high level of discretion.Highly organized, resourceful, and dependable with excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.Computer and technology literate – familiarity with Mac/PC operating systems, Photoshop, Word, Excel, and Gmail.Valid Texas driver's license.Benefits:TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental, and financial health of our employees and their families.
