R&D Manager

Gpac is seeking a R&D Manager to join our client company’s growing team in Minnesota! This position will be responsible for creating new product formulations, overseeing the R&D process, helping create and monitor consistent high-quality products, and maintaining or developing new customer and supplier relationships.Responsibilities:

Manage the formulation process for new product development, understanding single ingredient functionality and its effect on processing parameters (brix, pH, texture, water activity, etc.)Work with customers to understand their needs regarding flavor, nutrition, and label claimsWork with purchasing and suppliers if necessary to get materials in-house for benchtop and line trialsRequest all paperwork and logistical information on new ingredients, collaborating with the appropriate departments so they can follow up and complete the requestCoordinate priorities with R&D Applications SpecialistOrganize and retain benchtop and trial samples for further review and shelf life analysisLead the transfer of formulas from benchtop to line trialWork on current formulations to make any changes as directed by management teamsSource and work with third-parties to develop products outside of current capabilitiesMaintain nutritional and labeling database and proof labeling informationCreate first draft tentative nutritional labelsCreate, proof, and review nutritional panels for packagingCoordinate, manage, monitor, and document plant trials and first production runsProvide paperwork and verbal instructions to production team to run productionCollect data, samples, and attend to detail during production line trials and first productionWork with staff members to build bench strength and prepare employees for advancement opportunities.Qualifications:

5 years experience in new product development and formulations in Food Science with Confectionery experienceBS degree in Food ScienceUnderstand multi-ingredient functionalitySelf-motivationBasic computer skillsExcellent communication and organizational skillsAbility to work well with othersThis company is ready to interview ASAP!
