Position Summary:

Accountable for managing the overall profit and loss results of the plant from a manufacturing perspective, while strictly adhering to Employee Safety, Food Safety and Quality standards. Efficiently run plant operations from ingredient input to product output. Direct accountability for operations, sanitation, and maintenance while partnering with quality, human resources, finance, research and development, sales, marketing, and supply chain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Plant Manager is the senior leader at the facility and is responsible for all the activities that go on inside and on the outside grounds of the plant location

This dynamic leader will have a relentless focus on creating a safe environment (food safety and work environment), production efficiency, product cost, continuous improvement, ensuring a focus on talent retention, development, and driving business results the right way.

Manage all plant costs and key performance indicators including but not limited to production costs, labor expense, quality standards, maximum plant efficiencies, and facility up-keep. Constantly looks for areas of improvement and leads those efforts while collaborating with key stakeholders.

Complies with all GMP, company policy, regulatory, and food safety requirements.

Build and keep a strong employee culture through positive employee engagement efforts.

Maintains facility capital improvement plans and process; partnering with finance and other staff to prepare and execute budget and plans.

Select and Train plant supervisory and operations staff and conduct employee performance reviews.

Schedule and conduct plant meetings, run problem solving exercises, understands lean production and drives continuous improvement activities.

Manage overall budgets and costs

Provides support to sales, marketing, and research & development on commercialization of efforts for improving and new products.

Ensure the plant is up to standards with all federal, state, and local laws.

Partner with HR on hiring, implementing training programs, develop strategy to drive a high performing and effective organizational culture - ensuring that all workers understand production processes and routines.

Develop processes and support Department heads to maximize safety, quality, productivity, and stewardship.

Respond to emergency calls when needed concerning safety and elevated facility issues.

Test and monitor plant processes, analyze and issue production and performance reports.

Ensure that production line schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities, customer requirements, financial planning and facility maintenance needs.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business management/administration, engineering, operations, or food science.

7-10 years of related experience, specifically in food manufacturing

3-5 years managing hourly and exempt level employees

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to strategize, organize, problem solve and plan

Experience working in a unionized plant setting

Physical Environment:

Office within a plant environment. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals—including allergen ingredients such as nuts and eggs.
