$25.00 per hourSummaryThe Airport Operations Specialist supports both airside and landside operations at HVN, performing routine activities at the airport and responding to irregular events. Assists the Airport Operations Shift Supervisor as liaison to tenants, passengers, and other stakeholders. Tasked by management in performing all responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.This position performs responsibilities in conjunction with the Airport Operations Shift Supervisor, following established operational procedures.Directly fulfills roles associated with maintaining the airport’s FAR Part 139 Operating Certificate in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable federal regulations. This position also performs Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) activities on assigned shifts. This position requires the availability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays. May also require working overtime shifts, as required.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSupport the Airport Operations Shift Supervisor on assigned shifts.Serve as liaison to airport tenants and stakeholders for routine matters.Conduct airside safety self-inspections and maintain pertinent records in compliance with FAR Part 139 and the Airport Certification Manual (ACM).Ensure the timely identification and resolution of any airfield or landside hazards and/or discrepancies.Coordinate construction and maintenance activities on or near the facility to ensure airport safety standards and maintain operational status.Issue and disseminate Notices to Air Missions (NOTAM) and airfield condition reports (FCR).Update and maintain all required pertinent airport records.Provide initial Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) response to all aircraft emergencies/alerts.Respond to all requests for medical assistance.Coordinate mutual aid response to the airport.Document irregular events through the airport’s incident report and notification systems.During periods of snow and ice removal, drive and operate all major snow removal equipment.On a rotational basis, coordinate landside operations including vehicle traffic and parking, terminal operations, and compliance with the Airport Security Plan (ASP).Perform airport security inspections and monitor the airport’s access control and CCTV systems and respond to any unauthorized entry of persons or vehicles in the terminal and on the AOA in compliance with TSR 1542.Ensure compliance with Airport Rules and Regulations.May assist in the initial and recurrent training and development of airport tenants and stakeholders.Position involves shift work and mandatory overtime.Maintain acceptable attendance and performance of required functions.Must complete initial airfield driver training and maintain airfield driving privileges through annual recurrent training.Provide escorting for various projects across airport property.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Employment is subject to the successful completion of the Company’s prescribed probationary period.EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree with a focus in airport management preferred.Previous experience in airport operations or related field preferred.Demonstrated ability to supervise in a complex environment without direct supervision.Previous experience in the performance of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, airport emergency planning, and snow removal preferred.Must possess effective public communications, written and verbal skills.Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and sustain a valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence and maintain driver record compatible with Company’s insurance company’s criteria.Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as scheduled.Maintain skills and qualifications to perform the essential duties of the Airport Operations Specialist position.Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to professionally communicate over company and aviation radios.Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts, including proportions, and percentages.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSAcquire all licenses or certificates required by regulatory agencies.Meet the required training criteria under FAR Part 139.Must be able to successfully complete ARFF training and perform related shift duties. Employee shall be required to undergo regularly scheduled medical evaluations to ensure they are capable of safely utilizing Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).Meet or exceed required security training and performance criteria as mandated in the Airport Security Plan (ASP).Completion of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Certifications 100, 200, and 700.Ability to operate heavy snow removal equipment.Must possess a valid driver’s license as a condition of employment.Must be able to pass and maintain required TSA security clearances.Unless otherwise noted, all training requirements must be completed within the designated probationary period.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
