We bring experiences to the forefront of everything we do and to do that takes special people.Position OverviewThe Assistant Project Manager helps a licensed project manager by overseeing many of the technical and production components of creating surveys and/or construction staking activities. The APM interacts with field crews by preparing field packages, performing quality control, and answering scope questions. The APM also interacts with Survey Technicians to assist with advanced drafting, research and quality control. A high-performing APM will handle most of the technical and production activities allowing the PM to focus on key survey decisions. Additionally, the APM will keep the PM updated on any technical issues that arise during the technical stages of a survey.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with project managers on scope, quality, progress and issues throughout duration of a project.Review project tasks daily with crew chiefs and monitor scope to be sure work aligns with contract.Mentor and train survey technicians and field crew members.Work with internal clients such as technical project managers from within the Geomatics Department and from other market sectors for coordination of daily work activities.Ensure that junior CAD technicians are performing work following company standards, assisting with technical questions, and review of surveys for quality control prior to final review and sign off by Project Manager.Assist technicians with advanced research.Analyze and balance traverse/control loops.Review and troubleshoot topographic surveys and digital terrain models.Review and address title exceptions for ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.Process and analyze various GPS file types.Read and interpret construction documents including erosion control, storm drainage, utility, grading and roads, retaining wall, NCDOT, and architectural/structural plans.Prepare field packages for construction staking/location surveys.Skills + Experience5+ years of experience with a combination of time in both field and office.Possess a strong fundamental knowledge of Land Surveying.Possess a strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Carlson software.Possess skill with various office-based programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook.Possess experience working with various web-based programs such as municipal GIS and county register of deeds sites.Possess a strong knowledge of field collection methods.Possess a strong knowledge of field staking methods.Possess the ability to work well with numerous people with diverse skills and experiences.No certifications or licenses are required, but working towards licensure is preferred.Education not required, but working towards an AAS or BS degree is preferred.McAdams is an equal opportunity employer.
