EHR Services has partnered with Covaris, Inc. (www.covaris.com) to hire a European Business Development Manager. Covaris is a rapidly growing, profitable technology company headquartered in Massachusetts, USA, with European operations located in Brighton, UK. Covaris has developed a proprietary and patented Adaptive Focused Acoustics (AFA) technology platform utilized in sample preparation processes in the analytical and life sciences industries worldwide. Covaris AFA has become the gold standard for DNA fragmenting in the Next-Generation Sequencing market and is used by the largest and most productive genome centers.

Covaris AFA and other proprietary products have unique and competitive advantages for scientists working in Genomics, Proteomics, and Chromatin research. The AFA technology enables very high-throughput processes; one of the objectives of this position will be to commercialize this opportunity.

Summary:

The position is ideal for a self-motivated individual with a broad scientific background (preferably in Proteomics) and experience in sales and/or business development. The candidate should have a high level of curiosity about our customers' needs and be able to translate their needs into a clear and concise message to solve the customer's challenges with the Covaris technology platform.

The successful candidate needs to be a creative and resourceful team player to work closely across departments at Covaris (Sales, Applications, Marketing, and R&D). This position will ideally sit in Germany or Europe. It is a field-based position covering the whole of Europe, with a focus on UK, German, Swiss, and French markets.

Essential Responsibilities:

The employee may be required to perform all, or a combination of the following essential responsibilities as determined by business necessity.

In collaboration with the Commercial and Solutions team, devise and implement a robust business plan to grow the protein analysis business and achieve regional targets.

Map out key accounts and create strategic plans for growth.

Align, develop, and own the Protein Analysis strategy and the target account roadmap for EU.

Increase customer base through prospecting efforts, departmental/institutional presentations, roadshows, scientific conferences, and other endeavors.

Consult with existing and prospective customers on study designs and capture research plans and objectives in project proposals.

Keep updated client and opportunity information in the Customer Relationship Management database.

Maintain knowledge of competitive landscape and market trends and communicate changes to key stakeholders within the organization.

Establish KOL network to provide key feedback, endorsements, and presentations for Covaris technology to drive awareness and adoption into new markets.

Develop case studies to present at scientific meetings/conferences in collaboration with Covaris' team of scientists and external strategic collaborators.

Working with Marketing to inform core positioning and messaging for the proteomics products; be a subject matter expert regarding market competition and trends.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Expertise in life sciences - molecular biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or related fields: Bachelor's degree in business administration or scientific field is required; Master's degree or PhD in Biochemistry or Protein sciences is preferred.

5 years plus of business development and sales experience, with a minimum of 2 years' experience within the life sciences.

An established network within Pharma/CRO's is required; Experience with Mass Spectrometry, cell/tissue disruption, and protein extraction will be beneficial.

Willingness to travel frequently for customer visits and conferences, with some travel to Covaris' headquarters in Woburn, MA, USA.

Strong interest in connecting scientific information with a business approach.

Strong ability to identify customer needs and present solutions.

Independent, responsible, and accurate working style.

Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team.

Excellent verbal and written communication, strong presentation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal (teamwork-oriented) skills.

Competency in using Microsoft Office 365; Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).

Other:

The position is field-based covering Europe, primarily supporting UK, Swiss, German, and French markets.
