The Director of Student Services position is located at the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville, AR. The Director serves as the senior student affairs administrator responsible for providing leadership and administrative direction to comprehensive and vibrant student engagement programs that complement and support the mission of the University and enhance the quality of student life on the UAMS Northwest (NW) campus. Working closely with the NW Associate Provost, this position oversees the development and implementation of strategic student services initiatives to ensure the successful execution of priorities across academic programs. Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring parity of student services between students on the NW and Little Rock campuses. The Director also assists with faculty development programs and initiatives for NW faculty in coordination with the NW Associate Provost and UAMS Center for Faculty Excellence.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in Academic Affairs, Education, or a related field.Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in student services administration or relevant experience, including two (2) years in a management role.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Knowledge and understanding of student development theory, higher education administration, and student engagement practices.Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.Familiarity with student information systems and databases.Experience in developing and managing student engagement programs.Crisis management experience.Ability to work independently and make decisions.Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree or higher in Academic Affairs.Professional experience in student affairs in a higher education setting.Proven track record of developing and implementing student engagement programming.Additional Information:Key Responsibilities:Student Advocacy: The Director serves as a strong advocate for both individual students and the student body as a whole, advocating for their needs and concerns and ensuring their well-being.Program Development & Management: The Director is responsible for developing and managing a wide range of student engagement programs, including but not limited to student organizations, leadership development, and social activities. These programs aim to enhance the student experience and foster a sense of community.Student Development Theory: The Director is well-versed in various student development theories and is able to apply these principles to create meaningful programming and support services that meet the needs of the students.Effective Oral & Written Communications: The Director possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, both with individuals and large groups. They have the ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff, as well as external stakeholders.Customer Service: The Director is committed to providing exceptional customer service to students, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met in a timely and professional manner.Conflict Resolution: The Director is skilled in conflict resolution and has the ability to mediate disputes between students, faculty, and staff in a fair and effective manner.Crisis Management: The Director is prepared to take appropriate action in the event of a crisis or emergency on campus, ensuring the safety of students and providing guidance and support to affected individuals.Faculty Development: The Director is responsible for coordinating faculty development events with the Center for Faculty Excellence and the NW Associate Provost.Salary Information:
