What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):Assign, validate, and edit ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT codes for various patient typesMaintain or exceed established productivity and accuracy standardsInitiate, validate, and/or edit physician queries in compliance with company policyStay updated on official data quality standards, coding guidelines, and clinical/medical resourcesUtilize complete medical record documentation in code assignment and validation
What is Required (Qualifications):High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in HIM/HIT preferredOne (1) year acute care observation and/or same day surgery hospital outpatient coding experience requiredRegistered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), NHA CBCS or equivalent coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC requiredProficiency in ICD-10-CM, HCPCS/CPT-4, and APCsStrong analytical, organizational, communication, and PC skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):Three (3) years healthcare experience preferredExperience in acute care observation and/or same day surgery hospital outpatient coding
