The Assistant Director of Enrollment & Advising for the School of Applied Health Sciences will work collaboratively with SAHS faculty, program directors, staff, and students to ensure student success, as well as maintaining a high level of responsibility for student retention and completion. This position includes advising new and returning students concerning degree completion, academic regulations and requirements, transfer credits, change of major, and other related issues. The responsibilities of this position include advising and admissions for the undergraduate programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology, and the graduate programs in Kinesiology, Speech Language Pathology, Mental Health Counseling, and Occupational Therapy, as well as all new programs outlined in the BRCHS strategic planning documents for the School of Applied Health Sciences.Supervisory Responsibilities

None.Duties/Responsibilities

Maintains all student files electronically and coordinates the monitoring, notification, and regular interaction with students regarding academic standing.Assists with oversight of Applied Health Sciences webpages for advising, articulation agreements, orientations, handbooks, and other recruitment documentation.Maintains a relationship with the instructional divisions to ensure accurate dissemination of information to students.Approves all designated educational transactions (pre-registration, class schedules, drop/add, withdrawals, change of major/advisor, graduation requirements).Audits advisees with any report of unsatisfactory work (notice of class probation for poor attendance, notice of failing grades, incomplete grades); special attention is paid to students who are placed on academic probation.Interprets and provides rationale for institutional policies, procedures, and requirements.Serves as an agent of the Registrar by maintaining confidential student records and administrative documents for integrity, accuracy, consistency, decision making, and future reference.Maintains an advising load and works directly with students to accomplish educational goals; discusses and reinforces relationships between instructional programs and occupations/career options.Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.Utilizes the degree audit and academic planning system in Colleague and JU WebAdvisor.Prepares, organizes, and maintains appropriate resources, reports, and statistical summaries to maintain an up-to-date Advising Portfolio.Participates in office staff development, workshops, programs, and administrative functions; attends meetings.Advises or refers students and prospective students in areas concerning college admissions and readmission, professional concerns, housing, financial aid, student services, degree programs, academic schedules, course schedules, course planning and selections, major options, and career and educational goals.Tracks retention for undergraduate and graduate students and collaborates with administration to implement effective retention strategies.Other duties as needed.ENROLLMENT

Serves as the point of contact for the admissions process for the undergraduate and graduate BRCHS students within the School of Applied Health Sciences.Functions as the liaison between the Office of Admissions and the School of Applied Health Sciences within the BRCHS responding to all undergraduate applicant inquiries, including both undergraduate and graduate inquiries, applicants and declared majors (meeting with prospective students, tours included).Coordinates activities, facilities, and personnel to enhance program effectiveness.Maintains communications with all students, faculty, and staff.Participates in the marketing of programs through preparation of materials for the college catalog, schedule of classes, brochures, advertisements.Serves to facilitate the application and admission of students.Coordinates and attends campus outreach and recruitment events to present information regarding the application process, academic programs, scholarships, and post-graduate opportunities.Collaborates with University Marketing to develop promotional materials including videography, handbooks, newsletters, micro-site webpages, electronic mailings, and print materials.Structures recruitment plans and admission processes for the launch of new graduate programs of study within the School of Applied Health Sciences.Analyzes graduate level applications to support Program Directors in strategically meeting projected enrollment goals while maintaining optimal student benchmarks.Maximizes university exposure by facilitating and attending community outreach events across businesses, organizations, schools/colleges, and associations at national & local levels.Required Skills/Abilities

Knowledge and ability of student development practices.Successful supervisory and management experience.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Teaching experience in a college setting.Computer literate.Experience in a university environment.Ability to effectively relate to students of diverse ages and backgrounds.Demonstrate knowledge and good judgement in matters of college policy and procedures.Possess excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, and creative problem-solving.Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required.(4) years of equivalent combination of education and experience.Three years or more knowledge of health care industry, SLP, KIN, CMHC, OT profession and educational requirements.Colleague, degree audit and retention planning database experience.Physical Requirements

Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires the incumbent to exercise independence and discretion.
