The Commodity Specialist will be the primary point of contact for suppliers for topics including price and payment terms, contract reviews, escalations, business reviews and all other supplier management related topics. This position reports to the Division Sourcing & Procurement Manager.Position ScopeTo implement strategic Sourcing activities aimed at driving continuous improvement of Parker's Total Cost of Ownership for all suppliers in the assigned category.Essential FunctionsRegularly reviews the performance of indirect suppliers and executes action plans to meet stated goalsFinds, selects, and negotiates with suppliers based on internal customer requirements and best total cost to ParkerWorks with existing suppliers to develop and execute plans to achieve continuous improvement, quality, delivery, service and cost goalsEvaluates suppliers based on preferred supplier criteria of price, quality, delivery, and certificationsEnsures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and policiesPartners with internal customers to approve purchases and capital expenses through requisition systemAct as point of escalation for internal customers to assist with any supplier related opportunitiesReport monthly freight spend and adjust shipment classifications as neededEnsure proper shipping methods are being used and find areas of opportunity to reduce freight spendVerify part HTS, COO, & other import designations for proper import customs clearanceComplete customer request to fill out free trade agreements as neededAssist shipping team with adhoc shipping software requestsAssist internal customers with expedited shipment as neededQualifications4-year college degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Materials Management or similar required1-3+ years purchasing or supply chain related experience preferredExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contactsPossess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper process automation opportunitiesStrong organizational and problem solving skillsAbility to negotiate in business-to-business scenarios a bonusMust have functional understanding of cost accounting and adapt to practical applicationMust be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practicesFamiliar with applicable Free Trade Agreements and ability to complete customer request for agreements a plusParker Hannifin is a Fortune 250 global leader in motion and control technologies.
