Ocean Career: 4ocean Marine Operations Coordinator

4ocean is seeking an accomplished and motivated Marine Operations Coordinator ready to make a difference. This role is focused on helping to facilitate successful ocean cleanup operations by preparing and maintaining all equipment necessary. The chosen applicant will be responsible for ensuring that all vessels, gear, and tools are in top condition, organized, and ready for deployment at a moment's notice. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the marine industry, be comfortable with a variety of tasks, and be ready to tackle any challenges that arise in support of our mission to end the ocean plastic crisis.Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Preparation & Maintenance:

Curate, organize, and prepare all necessary gear and vessels for upcoming cleanup operations.Perform bow-to-stern inspections and routine maintenance on all watercraft, including boats, jet skis, and other marine vehicles.Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with equipment, proactively communicating the need for repairs to prevent small problems from becoming larger issues.Maintain and update service records for all 4ocean vessels, trailers, vehicles, PWC, and scuba equipment.Implement predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance plans to ensure the longevity and reliability of all assets.

Operational Support:

Assist in the management of the shop, including organizing tools, customizing gear, and ensuring the workspace is efficient and clean.Prepare and load boats, jet skis, and other equipment for deployment, ensuring all are fueled and ready for use.Conduct occasional errands, including collecting full plastic bins from various locations (e.g., Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm, and Miami).Participate in cleanup operations when and where required, to include vessel, beach, and shoreline operations.Support random work projects around the shop as needed to maintain operations readiness.

Shop & Gear Management:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility and all assets.Maintain security and readiness of all cleanup gear, tools, and assets located at our Florida facilities.Ensure all equipment is well-organized, well-maintained, and ready for cleanups at a moment's notice.Manage inventory and order supplies as necessary to support ongoing operations.

Flexibility & Adaptability:

Be flexible and adaptable to changing cleanup operation needs, which may occur in different locations and at varying times.Work will primarily be conducted in an outdoor or marine environment, including on boats and in a workshop setting. The role may involve travel to various locations for cleanup operations.Provide timely and accurate completion of work to support planned cleanup operations, contributing to the overall success of 4ocean’s mission.

Requirements

Significant experience in the marine industry, including knowledge of vessels, trailers, vehicles, PWC, and scuba equipment.Basic mechanical skills and the ability to perform routine maintenance and service on marine equipment.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.A commitment to 4ocean’s mission of a plastic-free ocean.Experience in marine operations coordination or similar roles.Comfortable with various random tasks that may arise in a dynamic operational environment.Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.Ability to perform physical tasks related to marine operations, including lifting, loading, and maneuvering equipment.
