What you'll do

Viasat is seeking a new Quality Engineer! In this role, you will drive Viasat quality standards for suppliers, support customer disruption RCCA and Defect tracking, drive resolution to actions identified during problem-solving, own supplier results, coordinate with customers on corrective action results from suppliers, and drive improvements using supplier scorecards and other data. In addition, you must demonstrate deep understanding of key business drivers, and use this understanding to accomplish tasks as well as have proven knowledge of how the team integrates with other teams and contributes to Viasat, as a business.

The day-to-day

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for tactical, strategic, and day-to-day quality operations for Viasat's Duluth facility.Responsibilities:Provide mentorship to program management, engineering, and operations on quality planning and execution to fulfill the overall quality missionBe accountable for the planning and execution of quality activities by the quality team membersTeam with Supply Chain to drive supplier excellence initiativesResolve non-conforming material issuesManage ISO9001/AS9100 adherence audits, reviewing findings, reviewing Viasat procedures, and communicating status reports to upper managementEnsuring Advanced Product Quality Planning is deployed across the New Product Development life cycle with quality built into the design, manufacturability, and serviceabilityChampion production validation and risk mitigation tools with suppliers with tools like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) deliverablesEnsuring the RCCA process provides prompt resolution and robust solutions to prevent a recurrence, focusing on mistake-proofing and process improvement

What you'll need

5+ years experience in quality, operations, and/or engineering in a development and manufacturing environment3+ years auditing suppliers and supporting new production introductionBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experienceExcellent knowledge of AS9100, AS9102B, 9001 QMS or maintenanceKnowledge of theory and principles of data analysisAbility to interpret engineering drawings, read procedures and process guidelines, record and interpret dataPLM tool knowledge, (such as Agile), as well as ERP systems, (such as Oracle)Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, (FMEA), 8D, 5 Why, etc.) and other failure analysis quality toolsMust have ambition, (the aim to learn and achieve personal advancement)Must display autonomy, (ability to work independently with minimal direction)Demonstrate technical aptitude, (ability to comprehend sophisticated technical topics and niche information)Ability to communicate and influence different stakeholders, both internally and externallyUp to 20% travel (domestic and international)Located within a 50-mile radius of Duluth, GA.US Citizenship required
