Gallery Operations SpecialistCenter for Art, Design, and Visual CultureThe University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking a Gallery Operations Specialist for the Center for Art, Design, and Visual Culture (CADVC). Reporting to the Director and working closely with Center staff, students, and University colleagues in business administration, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day business, facilities, and procedural operations of the CADVC.Specific duties include:Coordinating endowments and special projects, including monthly reconciliation of specially-funded projects and monitoring Foundation accounts.Managing the Federal Work Study program and other student work engagements with CADVC, including preparing staff schedules and gallery calendars.Coordinating business relationships with partners and outside vendors, overseeing transactions related to the Traveling Exhibitions program, Publications series Issues in Cultural Theory, and Community Outreach/Public Program initiatives.Overseeing sales plans for the bookstore and other revenue-generating projects at CADVC.Providing administrative and financial management, including financial reporting and analysis to the Executive Director, tracking expenses, reconciling budgets, and ensuring compliance with granting agencies.Facilitating communication with the Dean’s office, financial and advancement offices, and other internal partners for collaborative budgeting and operations management.Scheduling travel for staff, visiting artists, curators, and other partners, producing itineraries and organizational materials.Assisting the Director with administrative needs, including meeting notations, scheduling, and responding to routine correspondence.Performing other duties as assigned.RequirementsBachelor’s Degree, or the equivalent four years of comparable experience.Three years of financial management experience within arts or business administration; familiarity with institutional policy and procedures or demonstrated ability to learn and implement these procedures.Experience with accounting principles, PeopleSoft, Excel, budget management, operational grant and foundation accounts, and endowments.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or Arts Administration.Five years of experience in university or museum/gallery/cultural administration; management and supervisory skills preferred.Starting at $60,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
