The Clean Plant Center Northwest (CPCNW) at Washington State University's Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Prosser, WA, is seeking a motivated and qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Director. This person will manage the day-to-day non-scientific areas of the program, including center business (facilitating plant sales and contracted services) and budget management, while seeking new opportunities to grow the center and serve the NCPN and WSU Land Grant missions. This person will represent the interests of the CPCNW and WSU to external stakeholders including propagators, growers, and state and federal regulators, and will assist with program education and outreach activities.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.Scientific experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; demonstrated excellent organizational and project management experience and skills.Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.Experience in federal grant reporting and research and outreach manuscript preparation.Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, and interpersonal relationship skills.Commitment to supporting agricultural research and agricultural stakeholders, along with the core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.Knowledge of relevant software for effective project management.Experience developing and tracking budgets.Preferred Qualifications:PhD in Plant Pathology or related discipline, experience with state/federal plant regulatory agencies is a plus.Postdoctoral experience is desirable.Experience with procurement of and/or management of extramural funding.Agricultural research experience.Extension and outreach experience.Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and understanding of scientific/agricultural research and grants.Experience motivating people to work as a team in harmony with the objectives of the project.
