Salary assigned will be commensurate with experience.

Skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines in accordance with standards of the trade. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Crew Supervisor and T&D Superintendent.

Knowledge of the tools, materials, and methods used in line construction and maintenance work. Knowledge of theory and applications of theory regarding electrical circuits and wiring systems. Knowledge of the hazards of the trade and necessary safety precautions. Thorough knowledge in live line work and rubber gloving on distribution systems. Ability to climb poles and towers to perform all phases of live work. Knowledge of the operation of bucket truck, winches, derricks, trenchers, backhoes, cranes, and other equipment and tools in live work. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Working knowledge of tree limb removal. Physical strength and agility to climb poles and perform heavy manual work under inclement weather conditions.

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma from an accredited institution. Five years Journeyman Level experience in distribution systems, underground systems, and transmission.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class "A" is required. Will allow up to six months to obtain Class "A" CDL.

A Journeyman's Program certificate is desired or worked as a Journeyman lineman with applicable experience for a minimum of 5 years.

(NOTE: There are also secondary functions, which the employee will be required to perform.)

Constructs, maintains, and repairs electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems including stringing wires, setting poles and anchors, and handling transformers, lightning arresters, cutouts, cross-arms, and insulators.

Performs installation and maintenance of municipal, commercial, and residential electric service.

Installs and repairs a step-down transformer bank, installs pole and pad-mount transformers.

Climbs poles to construct, replace, and repair power lines; arresters, lights, transformers, capacitor switches, breakers, cross-arms, t-brackets, and other distribution and transmission equipment.

Installs primary metering and installs 3-phase service and ground wires and cutouts.

Installs "C.T.'s" and "P.T.'s" with instrument metering.

Locates trouble in primary and secondary lines. Replaces fuses and clears trouble in lines and circuits.

Operates heavy motorized equipment used in construction and maintenance of electric overhead and underground systems.

Works in accordance with, and assists in, enforcing safety rules and regulations. Instructs crew and other workers on all safety procedures and discusses each Job using the Job Briefing Form.

Places and replaces underground conductors. Sets pad-mounted transformers and clears short circuits in lines.

Responds to trouble calls on the electric system.

Studies drawings, specifications, and work orders to effectively lay work out for the crew.

Keeps time and work records and prepares periodic reports.

Willingly performs other duties as assigned.
