This position is responsible for providing collaborative leadership to develop and implement a shared vision of the library in support of the University’s mission. This position is a 12-month staff position.Responsibilities:

Serve as chief administrator of the library;Oversee the acquisition, organization, and management of library collections, both physical and digital, ensuring that they meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and researchers;Guide the provision of evolving, relevant library services;Provide vision, leadership, and accountability through collaborative strategic planning and assessment;Develop and implement policies for the library/department;Prepare and manage the budget, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to support library operations and initiatives;Integrate and facilitate appropriate technology;Effectively supervise and provide support for professional development for faculty and staff;In cooperation with the campus community, develop and guide initiatives that support the learning, teaching, research, service, and administrative goals of the University;Working within the system of shared governance, represent the library and its faculty/staff to internal and external stakeholders;Perform all other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:

ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and/or information science (or its equivalent) is required;Three or more years in library administration and/or a supervisory position, preferably academic, is required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;Strong management and leadership skills in a collegial environment;Commitment to participatory decision making;Ability to create and sustain effective collaborative relationships internally and externally;In-depth understanding of emerging trends and issues in academic libraries, and a strong vision for the future;Commitment to the recruitment, professional development, and retention of a talented and diverse workforce;Strong commitment to providing excellent library services, resources, and facilities;Thorough knowledge of academic library operations;Ability to supervise and evaluate both faculty and staff;Skills in strategic planning, assessment, and problem-solving;Leadership, organizational ability, and initiative;Understanding of computer systems and technology;Knowledge of trends in scholarly communication;Understanding of academic culture and the needs of faculty, staff, and students regarding information resources, services, and technology;Knowledge of academic accreditation processes;Knowledge of license negotiations;Ability to strengthen consortial agreements;Ability to interact effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, vendors, visitors, and the general public.Applicants must upload a cover letter and resume/CV at the time of application and provide contact information for at least three professional/academic references.
