Description : The Assistant Director for Workforce Development has direct management responsibility of the staff of the Office of Community Reinvestment’s Workforce Development Division and oversees activities funded under Title 1B of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The Local Workforce Innovation Area (LWIA) includes Kane, DeKalb and Kendall Counties and the principal office is located in Batavia, with field offices and staff located in DeKalb and Yorkville. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of the Office of Community Reinvestment and presents program activities, action items, and updates to the three-county Workforce Development Board (WDB) which meets quarterly. The Assistant Director implements WDB programs, policies, and strategic initiatives. Primary responsibilities include directing program operations, overseeing provider development and service delivery, monitoring and reporting programmatic performance, developing and implementing internal operating procedures, and resolving operating and compliance issues.Minimum Qualifications : Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, management or a related field, and at least three years of supervisory experience in workforce development, economic development or a related field. A master’s degree is desirable. Applicants must have proficient knowledge of the WIOA and employment and training programs, and the ability to research and interpret Federal and State regulations and policies. Applicants should possess exceptional organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and strong leadership and human resource management skills.
