Oversee events, handle set-up and teardown of bars and points of sale. Respond to customer and vendor needs in a timely and courteous manner.Responsibilities:

Act as main Arboretum contact for clients and vendors throughout eventsFamiliarize oneself with unique needs of each event in advanceRespond to questions and requests with hospitalityEnforce Arboretum rules and policiesManage frontline Arboretum staff throughout eventManage and assist in set-up of bar, and other venue-provided amenitiesKeep bar stocked and resupplied throughout eventUnlock and relock supply rooms as neededSet up points of sale for bars and concessionsCommunicate cleaning, repair, and furniture needs to Arboretum facilities crewCommunicate Security concerns to Arboretum Security teamManage and assist in bar clean-up and tear-downClose down points of sale according to Arboretum PolicyClean up linens at the conclusion of eventsPut out and away Arboretum signage as neededCommunicate effectively with Arboretum managementQualifications

Required Qualifications (must be mentioned on application/resume):

High school diploma or equivalentMust have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beveragesSuccessfully completed T.I.P.S. TrainingAbility to obtain any needed government-required license or certificate.Basic mathematical and computer skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizesAbility to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and staffAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and to write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.Ability to handle keys and locksPreferred qualifications:

Familiar with Arboretum spaces, personnel, and practicesAvailable for evenings and weekendsPrior events experiencePhysical demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to stand for long periods of timeSufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.About the Department

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.
