Job Summary:

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing IT projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget constraints. This role involves managing resources, coordinating team efforts, and collaborating with third-party contractors to deliver projects as per the established project plan. The Senior IT Project Manager defines project objectives, ensures high-quality delivery, and handles more complex and larger-scale projects compared to non-Senior Project Managers. This role requires extensive experience in leading application development projects and proficiency in Agile Development, Scrum, and DevOps.

- May work independently with general supervision, responsible for assigned functions or programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Duties:

Manage projects involving software, server, or network implementation and upgrades, PC deployment, and similar initiatives.

Coordinate IT staff and internal stakeholders by defining project requirements and performing feasibility and impact assessments.

Develop detailed project plans, manage implementation processes including resource allocation, progress tracking, change control, testing, documentation, training, and ensure timely delivery within budget.

Strategy & Planning:

Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

Communicate project expectations clearly and timely to team members and stakeholders.

Liaise with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Manage project expectations, plan and schedule timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.

Track milestones and deliverables, prepare status reports, analyze results, and troubleshoot issues.

Define success criteria and communicate them throughout the project.

Conduct postmortem analyses and create recommendations for improvement.

Develop best practices and tools for effective project management.

Acquisition & Deployment:

Estimate required resources and participants for achieving project goals.

Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend adjustments as necessary.

Negotiate with department managers for the acquisition of necessary personnel.

Assess the need for additional staff or consultants and make appropriate recruitments if needed.

Operational Management:

Direct and manage project development from start to finish.

Develop comprehensive project plans and communication documents.

Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

Manage project dependencies and critical paths.

Deliver progress reports, proposals, documentation, and presentations.

Manage changes in project scope, anticipate potential crises, and create contingency plans.

Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and contractors.

Build and maintain business relationships vital to project success.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Expertise in application development project management.

Experience with Agile Development, Scrum, and DevOps is preferred.

In-depth knowledge of project management concepts, processes, and tools.

Strong technical skills in assessing IT systems and addressing failures and disruptions.

Ability to plan and execute assignments effectively, train others, and build relationships within the organization.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business (or equivalent professional experience).

5 years of experience in a team or project lead role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business (or equivalent professional experience).

5-8 years of experience in a relevant field.

Licensures and Certifications:

PMP certification preferred.

Job Type:

Full-time

Pay:

$34.00 - $59.00 per hour

Expected hours:

40 per week
