Researcher 3 - Data Analyst *hybrid in Minnesota*

University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, 55400

This position is hybrid with

at least three days a week

in the office

. Our office is located on the West Bank of Minneapolis's campus.Job description:Dr. Zhu's lab is a dry lab. The research interests are mainly focused on the novel computational methodology design and multi-modal data analysis to (1) enhance the single-cell and spatially resolved multi-omics technologies and (2) screen the pathogenic driven factors, therefore shedding light on coordinated biological regulatory mechanisms from different layers. One of the jobs is motivated by the need of biomedical image analysis in the clinical utility. The pathological image, especially hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) of tissue slide that captures histologic details in high resolution, has become a routine clinical procedure for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Over the past years, artificial intelligence (AI), especially the representation deep learning methods, have demonstrated great performance in many clinically relevant tasks. The job is to implement the AI-based digital pathology diagnostic assays, ranging from low-level tasks focused around object recognition problems such as detection and segmentation to higher-level tasks such as predicting tumor diagnosis and prognosis, aiming to provide additional valuable information for oncologists to perform cancer risk stratification, new biomarker discovery, and patient selection for targeted therapies.Responsibilities:60% - Conduct biomedical image analysis:

Perform and clean the large datasets of clinical high-resolution whole-slide images and associated patient health information.Implement in-house versions of a series of state-of-art deep learning-based digital pathology software.Train and test the deep learning models on pan-cancer biomedical images to predict multi-omics phenotypes.Release the software/model and provide the supports for the long-term clinical service in the department.

40% - Provide bioinformatics support:Assist in implementing bioinformatics analysis pipelines for high-throughput sequencing technologies, such as DNAseq, RNAseq, ChIPseq, etc.Perform bioinformatics data analysis on real datasets to provide supports for both in-house and collaborative projects.Give presentations of research progress to the lab members and collaborators.

Other duties as assigned.
