THE OPPORTUNITY

The Real Assets Investment Group provides clients with investment management services across the full spectrum of public and private real assets investments, including real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources on both a discretionary and non-discretionary basis. Led by senior professionals with significant financial industry and real assets market experience, this global team is responsible for evaluating real assets markets, identifying investment opportunities, and managing client portfolios. We advise our clients on making debt and equity investments into real assets via public and private investment vehicles, co-investments, and separate accounts. We also support the firm on broader research and developing firm-wide views on the sector.

The Senior Investment Director is an integral position within the Real Assets Investment Group. As part of a highly collaborative global investment team, this position will focus on five primary responsibilities: 1) identifying, evaluating, and monitoring high-quality private and public investment managers, 2) researching and opining on real assets trends, 3) serving as a resource to the portfolio management team, 4) sourcing and executing co-investments, and 5) supporting colleagues and clients on sector-related matters and opportunities. This position is based in Boston.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead investment due diligence on investment opportunities, inclusive of analyzing a manager’s organization, investment strategy, performance, terms, current portfolio positions, and other key attributes. Co-lead in-person meetings, often onsite, and conduct reference calls with industry participants.

Complete written assessments and recommendations utilized by our clients and colleagues to support investment decisions.

Source new investment opportunities by leveraging existing industry relationships, building new relationships, and identifying other creative sourcing channels in collaboration with the broader team.

Monitor market trends and contribute to CA’s thought leadership in this area.

Actively monitor and evaluate managers on an ongoing basis.

Present at a variety of internal meetings, investment research committee discussions, and marketing presentations.

Serve as a resource to colleagues seeking current information on real assets investment opportunities.

Work directly with clients that are actively building Real Asset portfolios.

QUALIFICATIONS

A BA/BS required.

Minimum of 5 years' (ID) or 8 years’ (Senior ID) investment experience.

Coinvestment and/or secondaries experience a plus.

Strong collaborator and work ethic.

Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.

Demonstrated relationship-building skills.

Strong written and verbal communication and strong business writing skills.

Ability and willingness to engage in conversation with managers and references.

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Ability to drive the project management process, providing clear direction and managing deadlines, workflow, and quality control for projects.

Willingness and ability to travel.

Demonstrated interest in real assets investing.
