This position is located in Dayton, Ohio.The APEX Procurement Consultant will deliver quality, cost-effective, and expeditious counseling to OU APEX clients related to obtaining government contracts in specified counties in each service area. Qualified applicants must demonstrate the ability to provide general counseling on business development; create professional relationships with government program managers, contracting officers, and prime contractors; possess a working knowledge of best business practices on performing government contracts; and have pragmatic knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations as well as State of Ohio and local procurement regulations and practices.Duties include:Client counseling on government procurement related topics;Providing in-depth counseling;Assessing a client’s requirements and capabilities;Providing in-depth counseling to include program suitability, registrations, certifications, research, marketing, proposal preparation, interpretation of policies, preparing for audits, contract performance issues, and client referrals to appropriate resources;Effectively operating the assigned APEX office;Working closely with the APEX Director and/or network colleagues to facilitate the smooth operation of the program;Maintaining documentation of client counseling and training events;Retaining appropriate files while preserving a functioning office space;Fostering the APEX program growth through building relationships externally with partnering organizations and key stakeholders;Promoting the APEX program through presentations and training events;Access to reliable internet to support remote work when needed;Ability to travel required; understanding of and be able to travel, most often locally or within the state of Ohio; may occasionally be asked to travel out of state to staff college events or national conferences.Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in any field AND at least three (3) years of procurement related work experience. Candidates with no bachelor’s degree but with at least five (5) years or more experience in a procurement related field or with APEX experience will also be considered.Preferred QualificationsDepartment: Voinovich School of Leadership & Public AffairsPay Rate: Commensurate with credentials.
