Yes, 15 % of the TimeDescriptionThe Power Market Consultant will utilize knowledge in the electric utilities power generation and transmission industry to perform tasks for client project portfolio generation and transmission planning decisions. The consultant will perform a broad range of studies and other consulting services to help clients make decisions backed by business and engineering analysis. This role will contribute to the execution of technical studies and work with project managers to lead the technical execution for projects.Key Responsibilities:Perform a broad range of studies and consulting services to support electric utilities and asset developers in making decisions regarding investments and power supply requirements, such as integrated resource planning, market assessments, valuations, and power supply RFP evaluations.Perform forecasts and evaluations utilizing power supply planning software such as capacity optimization and hourly dispatch software models.Conduct data analysis and interpretation of engineering, financial, and economic conditions and results, and subsequent technical business implications to client projects.Analyze life-cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, operation and maintenance costs, performance estimates, and economic assumptions and forecasts.Conduct technical and business-related risk assessments that evaluate impacts associated with rules implemented by regulatory agencies.Develop and conduct detailed financial analysis using a variety of computer-based software.Develop technical reports and presentations summarizing results of analysis.Assist project managers in business development activities including proposal development and client relationships.Mentor and train other employees on technical and business aspects of projects and the industry.Support business lines as required by clients.Perform other duties as assigned.Comply with all policies and standards.QualificationsBachelor Degree in Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science or similar field from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of related experience or a Master's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Business and 2 years of experience.Prior experience associated with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting is preferred.Experience with power supply planning software, preferably EnCompass (zonal and nodal) and Capacity Expansion (or familiarity with PROMOD, Plexos, GridView, or others).Experience and knowledge of general business and financial calculations including discounted cash flow analysis, net present value analysis, and internal rate of return evaluations.Experience and knowledge of electric power options including generation facility types, capital costs, operating costs, typical dispatch profiles, and general power system operations.Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and oral communications skills.Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, including identification of critical path items to ensure deliverable deadlines are met.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
