Our firm is organized into small teams to give you a strong sense of accountability and to achieve great results.Job Summary:This position is responsible for the direction of survey technicians, staff surveyors, project surveyors, and/or field surveyors. They must be able to work under minimal supervision while reviewing work done by others as well as preparing, scheduling, and maintaining a budget.Accountability and Duties:Ensures timesheets are submitted accurately and on timeProvides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a daily basisKeeps supervisors informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional servicesMaintains a good relationship with clients and staffWorks closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projectsAvailable to occasionally work in the field performing surveying tasksOrganizes and maintains survey job files (electronic and/or paper)Accurately prepares field work orders for field surveysAccurately prepares legal descriptions with minimal supervisionAccurately prepares survey control sheets with minimal supervisionAccurately prepares boundary survey calculations with minimal supervisionAccurately prepares block sheets for construction staking with minimal supervisionAccurately reviews engineering plans for construction calculationsAccurately prepares the title review summaries for ALTA SurveysAccurately calculates lot geometry for subdivision platsMentors and trains office and field surveyorsAccurately reviews completed Houseline PlatsAccurately reviews completed topographic surveysAccurately reviews completed plats of surveyAccurately reviews completed ALTA surveys (including title)Accurately reviews completed easement platsAccurately reviews completed dedication platsAccurately reviews completed lot geometry and subdivision platsAccurately reviews completed legal descriptionsAccurately reviews completed survey control sheetsAccurately reviews completed block sheets and construction calculationsAccurately reviews completed Boundary Survey calculationsPrepares and monitors project budgetsPrepares proposals and ensures proposal protocol is followedEnsures that services being provided are covered by contract scopePrepares and monitors project schedules and timely completion of projectsParticipates in marketing, sales, and business development effortsCompletes projects on time and within budgetsMonitors quality of plats, documents, and other deliverablesMaintain, monitor, and develop field and office survey standardsManage staff and project workload and meet project deadlinesReview and approve staff timesheets on timeMentoring and job coaching for staff and complete annual staff reviewsAssists in resolving any HR issues with direct reportsEffectively communicates with and keeps supervisor informedCommunicates closely with other disciplines and/or sub-consultantsDevelop, maintain, and enhance relationships with existing clientsWorks with passion and a positive attitude and cooperates toward the common goalEnsures that contracts are approved and signed by clientAccurate billing for projects including additional services for out of scope itemsMonitors and addresses unbilled timeMonitors and resolves past due A/RAddresses back charges immediately and monitors statusMarketing and business development for new clientsQualification Requirements:6-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Education and/or Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Surveying from an accredited four-year college or universityCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:Valid driver’s license, Licensed Land SurveyorRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent oral and technical written communication skillsStrong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlinesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAvailable to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessaryAbility to make independent decisions within a general frameworkAbility to supervise the work of field and/or office surveyorsKnowledge of industry related softwareProficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office (if applicable)Must be fluent in the English languagePhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
