Finance Manager, Strategic Planning is a leadership role in CenterPoint’s Strategic Planning group, that will work closely with the Director and other Managers of the Strategic Planning group to support enterprise-wide corporate development and financial analysis of initiatives impacting CenterPoint’s business operations. The Strategic Planning group sits at the intersection of finance, operations, engineering, legal, and several other support functions. The group drives the execution of acquisition and divesture activities, supports organic growth across CenterPoint’s service territories and is a critical support function to CenterPoint’s executive leadership team. A successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the energy and utility landscape, identifying and analyzing opportunities for CenterPoint Energy, driving decision analyses, and supporting the execution of strategic initiatives. Prior financial analysis, corporate development, investment banking or consulting experience in the utility/energy sector is preferred.Essential Functions

Serve as a critical financial partner to business units and functional support areas providing strategic analysis, developing business cases and investigating business opportunities.Lead cross-functional teams and develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders driving execution of acquisitions, divestitures and other strategic initiatives.Lead and support end-to-end M&A process including target identification, preparation of marketing materials, management of due diligence, valuation analysis, negotiation support and integration planning.Support development of Board of Directors materials and other strategy documents: presentations, summaries, and deliverables for the Company’s executive leadership.Develop recommendations and provide supporting analysis and business cases (business analytics, financial analysis, regulatory and rate impacts, etc.) to support management decision making.Develop and review financial models for accuracy and integrity (appropriate inputs, necessary assumptions, inclusion of alternatives/options, and achievability of savings).Work directly with SVPs / VPs / Directors / Managers to provide financial support, including but not limited to activities such as ad hoc financial analysis, financial modeling and business case scenario analysis.Attend industry meetings and conferences as applicable to remain current with industry fundamentals, practices and trends.Participate in recruiting activities to maintain a high-quality utility strategy organization.Education Description

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.MBA or Master’s degree in a business-related field is a plus.Experience

Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field.Candidates should have strong finance and analytical backgrounds with robust communication skills.Prior financial analysis, corporate development, investment banking or consulting experience in the utility/energy sector is preferred.Physical Requirements

Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods.Able to reach, grasp and move items.Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.Able to operate office equipment, including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, laptop, mobile phone, etc.Able to sit and to view a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.Able to travel long distances domestically in a motor vehicle or airplane.Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.Working Conditions

Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan.Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether open office, cubicle or private office.Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight.Able to travel to attend or conduct training and/or attend professional association conferences and/or other meetings (with customers, vendors, contractors) and stay overnight as required.Able to work overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, nights and/or weekends) occasionally, as needed or required to meet established deadlines.We want you to know:
