Role Objectives:

Responsible for the safety, training, and compliance programs across the company’s offshore vessels, inshore vessels, line handling boats, and shore side operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure Full Compliance with U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, TGLO, U.S. Customs regulations.

Manage, facilitate, and attend Vessel subchapter-T, COI inspections.

Represent the company by attending U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, Customer, and Industry meetings.

Provide technical expertise in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Interpreting regulations/standards and implementing into our Safety Management System.

Conduct Inspections and Audits, identify problems, and develop solutions.

Lead accident prevention practices through investigations; identify root causes of accidents, recommend changes. Write policies and procedures.

Manage Training, prepare employees for safe work by developing and disseminating safety information.

Manage Shipboard Training, Drills, Ship handling, and Commercial maritime training.

Assist in safety orientation and awareness training, conducting safety training and work audits.

Maintain safety awareness by providing information relevant to the operation of both vessels and shore side facilities, conduct inspections, recommend improvements, and coach crews.

Purchase, Inspect, maintain, and safety equipment.

Provide safety information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; publish reports; develop both audit and corrective action plans.

Maintain and submit records to Customers, IS Net, OSHA, U. S. Coast Guard.

Perform routine maintenance/safety checks onboard vessels.

Participate in afterhours callouts or emergency callouts.

Ability to operate a forklift, crane, and small boat; trailer and tow a small boat.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

Strong network within the Maritime Industry.

Experience working with third party organizations and preparing vessels for external inspections.

Ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks unsupervised.

Strong communication skills both oral and written.

Ability to work as a team, communicate and interact with others in a professional manner.

Ability to work from home.

Ability to travel regionally (25 percent).

Education/Experience:

10 years in Marine industry or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or related field.

Experience with various programs such as Microsoft Office, HELM connect, IS Net, etc.

TWIC Card and Driver’s License.

Texas Boater Safety Card.

Previous experience in investigation, marine inspection, and shipboard operations preferred.

USCG or OSHA experience is preferred.

USCG 100 ton Near Coastal MMC preferred.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the manager is regularly underway on vessels and boats both inshore and offshore.

It is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

These tasks are performed day or night and in all types of weather conditions. Work on/near deep water and electricity.

Ability to climb stairs/ladders.

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Operate motor vehicles.

Wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles and full body coveralls.

Ability to work around moving machinery.

Ability to perform under stress, under pressure, and/or in emergency situations.

Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (Cold or Heat).

Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, reason logically, and make sound decisions.

Ability to comprehend, remember, and follow verbal and written directions and comply with Company policies, procedures, and standards.

Ability to work at heights (scaffolding or ladders).

Ability to work in noisy environments.

Working Conditions:

Work near others, usually within a few feet.

Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.

Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels, and the light is intense/glare.

Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.

Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.

Work surface is stable, height is elevated.

Worker is subject to environmental conditions both inside and outside, with no effective protection from weather, with sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard, and to physical hazards, such as moving parts, vehicles, electricity, heights, and large bodies of deep water.
