Concrete Industries, a division of Dodge City Concrete, is seeking a skilled and motivated Plant Manager to lead operations at our Garden City, KS location.

We are a proud supplier of ready-mix concrete, precast items, and concrete accessories and have served Kansas for nearly 70 years. The ideal candidate for our Plant Manager position will have proven experience in plant management, strong leadership skills, and knowledge of ready-mix operations. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient production. The salary range for this position is $75k - $105k depending on qualifications.

Job Summary

The Plant Manager is tasked with directing and managing daily plant operations with responsibilities for safety, production, storage, maintenance, quality and other related activities. This position ensures compliance with all standards, policies, procedures and regulations for safe, environmentally-sound practices for the facilities. The Plant Manager develops processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Job Requirements

A combination of education and experience to perform the duties as required.

Proven managerial experience.

Knowledge of the ready-mix operation and equipment with the ability to oversee operations in absence of the General Manager.

Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.

Strong team building, decision making and people management skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, plus a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Minimum Qualifications

Responsible for the day-to-day plant operations and personnel assigned.

Schedule and batch concrete deliveries with a focus on customer service and product quality.

Order and maintain material used for production.

Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with customers, vendors and the public.

Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customer's expectations.

Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.

Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time delivery and shipping.

Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.

Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.

Manage and review projects pertaining to plants, market and employees.

Commit to plant safety procedures. Oversee that work is done safely and productively.

Address employee issues and report personnel matters to the General Manager.

Stay up to date on the latest plant operations and plant management best practices and concepts.

Must have physical strength to perform the required duties of the position.

Ability to concentrate on tasks and projects.

Ability to understand and communicate with management and co-workers in order to carry out the duties and tasks assigned.

Ability to speak English.

Supervises materials handling and storage.

Clearly demonstrated leadership characteristics, planning and scheduling skills necessary to successfully manage plant operations.

Effective and proactively administer the safety program to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.

Manage any direct reports under the guidelines of policies and procedures.

Instill a culture of continuous improvement.

Troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

Must be able to comprehend and follow policies and procedures in order to complete the required duties.

Must be able to read, write and comprehend English in order to perform the essential duties of this position.

Basic math and computer skills are essential.

Must be open to working weekends, after-hours duty work is very possible if required by the General Manager.

Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

Brings problems to the attention of the General Manager.

Teamwork with ability to operate on own initiative.

Highly disciplined to follow through with assignments and tasks.

Adheres to safety requirements and procedures and wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.

Operate Company vehicles and equipment.

Perform various other tasks, activities, duties or responsibilities required of this employee for this job.

Physical Requirements

Employee must be able to function in an office environment as well as the company's industrial environment, including the environmental conditions described below and the physical demands of working/auditing at the plant level.

Will be required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear.

Occasional use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including respirator.

Will be exposed to plant environmental conditions which include:

Wet or humid conditions.

Working near moving mechanical parts.

Working at height, sometimes in precarious places.

Fumes or airborne particles.

Toxic or caustic chemicals.

Outdoor weather conditions.

Extreme cold and extreme heat.

Industrial risks including noise, dust, electrical and machine risks, large equipment and vehicles, and occasional work in enclosed spaces.

The employee will be required to push, lift, pull, or carry objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide physical support to operations as needed.

Good manual dexterity.

Excellent stamina.
