Through the diligence of a highly professional staff, the MIA works to facilitate a strong and competitive insurance marketplace where consumers are well informed and treated fairly.GRADE21LOCATION OF POSITIONBaltimore CityMain Purpose of JobThis position manages all aspects of market conduct examinations and investigations involving life and health insurance companies and other licensees operating in the state of Maryland. The Chief Examiner oversees the senior examiners and examiners. This position is responsible for working with the Market Analysis Unit to select companies to be examined and to determine the type of market conduct continuum action to be performed utilizing guidelines contained in the NAIC Market Regulation Handbook.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and seven years of life and health insurance experience as an underwriter, claims adjuster, insurance producer, insurance regulator, or related profession, which includes two years of supervisory or management experience.ORHigh school diploma or GED and eleven years of life and health insurance experience as an underwriter, claims adjuster, insurance producer, insurance regulator, or related profession, which includes two years of supervisory or management experience.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Possession of a Certified Insurance Examiner (CIE), Accredited Insurance Examiner (AIE), Market Conduct Management (MCM), Associate Professional in Insurance Regulation or related professional designation.BENEFITSSTATE OF MARYLAND BENEFITSFURTHER INSTRUCTIONSIf you have any questions about this recruitment, please contact lynn.hill@maryland.gov.
