A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline.A.I.S., Inc. assigns Marine Biologists/Fisheries Observers on National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) assigned commercial fishing vessels based in the Bering Sea and along the Gulf of Alaska in support of Alaska Fisheries Science Center’s Fishery Monitoring and Analysis Division. AIS is looking for a West Coast Fisheries Program Assistant to support both administrative and operational tasks in support of our Biologist/Observers operating in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea and supporting them throughout their deployments to Alaska. Our staff members collect fisheries data for scientific and management purposes and they submit their data and samples to NMFS. Operations occur 24/7 throughout the year.Duties/Responsibilities:

Scheduling field personnel for trainings, facilitating employee onboarding, and managing inventory.Perform administrative functions in the Seattle office such as answering the phone, organizing files, updating data sheets tracking employee certifications and other requirements.Reconcile accounts payable with vendors providing support services, e.g. airlines, hotels, and suppliers.This position will rotate being on call to address ad hoc issues and aid staff working on Saturdays and Sundays to support field operations.Support project planning, resource allocation and tracking, field staff scheduling, personnel management, new hire onboarding meetings, transportation, scheduling AIS vehicle and company house maintenance, inventory management and troubleshooting, budgeting and QA/QC.Compensation:

Candidates will be paid a salary to be negotiated and total compensation will vary depending on employee’s experience. This is a full-time position. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience conducting or directing field research or data collection or managing fisheries related operations.A minimum of 1 year of project management experience.Exceptional written and oral communication skills to maintain contact with staff, stakeholders, vendors and customers.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.Demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving to ensuring customer deliverables and employee support.Proficient in MS Office Suite programs (Excel, Word, etc.).Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a NMFS Certified Fisheries Observer.Experience supporting operations with significant geographical distribution, and experience supervising employees in a fast-paced environment.Experience with database development and web design would be a plus.
