02 - AFSCMEAs the Operations & Maintenance Technician IV Mechanic, you will contribute to the success of the treatment plant by performing operational support, including preventative and corrective maintenance to maintain and repair the equipment and structures of the water treatment plant and related facilities, including all mechanical systems used in the treatment process. The Jensen Water Treatment Plant has the capability to treat 750 million gallons daily.You will utilize your journey level mechanical skills, experience, and knowledge to maintain, repair or install large complex water utility equipment and systems at the Jensen Water Treatment Plant. You will perform preventive maintenance, corrective troubleshooting, and process improvements on pumps, valves, valve actuators, geared driven equipment, screw conveyors, chemical feed systems (to include liquid chlorine, ozone, alum, polymer, caustic soda, liquid ammonia, fluorosilicic acid, sulfuric acid, and peroxide), compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mixers, agitators, piping, and fittings in order to sustain or improve plant capacity or operational reliability. This position utilizes specialty tools and equipment to perform precision shaft alignment, predictive diagnostic vibration testing, and lube oil sampling that assists in determining the severity of equipment wear providing input to mitigate potential failures and gives recommendations for the appropriate follow-up action in order to reduce equipment downtime.You will perform maintenance welding, fabrication, and machining, operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, overhead hoists, and mobile cranes while performing safe rigging procedures adhering to the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and respiratory protection. You will be using computer programs for individual time entry, maintenance work order tracking, work planning and estimating, and general professional communications.EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency in addition to a minimum of 6 years in a mechanical maintenance position at a water agency or in a conveyance and distribution facility such as a pump plant, treatment plant, and hydroelectric facility or similar environment.ORHigh school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency in addition to the attainment of journey level skills through a recognized mechanical trade training program.Journey level experience as demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques and practices specific to the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems at a water agency or in a conveyance and distribution facility such as a treatment plant, pump plant, and/or power generation systems, and related apparatus.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:License:
