The Youth Employment Consultant will be responsible for working with state, local, and federal agencies and businesses to help consult and secure job placement opportunities, internships, volunteer, and paid work experiences for youth between the ages of 14-24. The Employment Consultant will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop strategic employer relationships in the community, provide case management to clients, and help prepare the job seeker for employment (which includes but is not limited to resume preparation, interviewing skills, vocational assessments, transportation assessments, work readiness, disability, and accommodation needs). The consultant will also be responsible for facilitating seminars and guest speaking opportunities for job seekers, sourcing potential employers, and helping secure permanent employment for job seekers based on interest, skills, and ability. The consultant may also need to provide supervision to paid work experience youth as well.

Preferred Qualifications:

BA in the field of Social Science, Human Resources, Business, or Marketing and Communications or at least 3 years work experience equivalent.

Required Work Experience:

Minimum two years of proven success in job development, coaching, vocational counseling, or educational and training services for adults and youth with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Should have some knowledge and experience working with a variety of state agencies including DVR, Workforce Centers, Mental Health Centers, Public and Charter School systems, and the Department of Human Services. The consultant should have a sound knowledge of the SSA Ticket to Work Program.

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and work trends. Must have the ability to write reports, speak in front of groups, and provide services with caring and compassion. Must have some knowledge of work and disability issues and love working with a diverse group of people. Good communication skills are a must. English and Spanish bilingual ability a plus!
