MATERIALS REQUIREMENTS PLANNING LEADERJOB SUMMARY:The Materials Requirements Planning Leader is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, and management of materials essential for pre-production phases, ensuring timely availability of resources to support product development and manufacturing processes. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to coordinate material requirements, optimize inventory levels, and mitigate risks associated with material shortages or delays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and maintain materials requirement plans based on pre-production schedules and project timelines.Coordinate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to identify material specifications and quantities required for prototyping, testing, and pilot production runs.Evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate pricing agreements, and establish procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials.Monitor inventory levels and demand forecasts to prevent stockouts and excess inventory, optimizing material utilization and storage space.Implement inventory control measures, including cycle counting, stock rotation, and disposition of obsolete or surplus materials.Collaborate with quality assurance teams to verify material compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.Address supply chain disruptions, such as lead time variations or supplier quality issues, by implementing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies.Utilize QAD to track material transactions, generate reports, and analyze performance metrics.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline material procurement processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and technological advancements in materials management practices.Other activities as requested and/or required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of advanced schooling and/or work experience.Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience and demonstrated success in Business, Materials Management or Supply Chain Mgt/Logistics.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Proficiency with ERP and Kanban Systems.Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, production planning concepts, and procurement strategies.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Ability to plan and analyze production requirements and implement supporting material systems and business processes.Highly organized and detailed to establish priorities, identify and set goals.Familiar with MRP systems (QAD’s MfgPro and GM’s MGO experience preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
