If you’re interested in joining a dynamic team of public servants, apply today!This position is open only to Colorado state residents.WHAT YOU WILL DOThe Pattern or Practice Unit investigates and seeks to remedy violations of law by governmental authorities that engage in a pattern or practice of violating rights secured by federal or state law. The Compliance Investigator partners with attorneys to identify governmental authorities potentially engaged in pattern-or-practice violations; investigates such violations; creates remedies to eliminate the violations of law; and, as necessary, pursues civil litigation to obtain those remedies.The successful candidate will conduct civil investigations of government agencies to determine whether they have patterns or practices that deprive persons of the rights, privileges, and immunities protected by state or federal laws. This may include looking at concerns of excessive force or biased policing, as well as violations of rights by non-law-enforcement entities. The position will pursue and support pattern-and-practice investigations including complex cases, by reviewing incoming complaints and other sources of potential violations by government authorities; conducting and supporting witness interviews; obtaining, reviewing and analyzing documents; conducting community outreach; and assisting with monitoring compliance with any imposed remedies.Duties include:Conduct interviews with targets, victims, witnesses, regulatory officials and others as needed.Collect documentary evidence; examine records including police reports, medical records, official municipal records, and government program data; assist with drafting civil investigative demands; and arrange data into a usable format, such as spreadsheets and databases.Compile data by collecting documentary evidence, executing subpoenas and reviewing electronic data (including online).Analyze gathered information to determine the existence and scope of civil wrongdoing.Provide investigative, supervisory, and logistical assistance on assigned cases.Salary Note:

This experience must include initiation, investigation, final recommendation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of a case or complaint.ORBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in sociology, psychology, public administration, political science or other related field

ANDTwo (2) years of professional experience in investigation either as an investigator, community liaison/organizer, investigative journalist, auditor or complaint specialist, or other field where you were responsible for conducting investigations. This experience must include initiation, investigation, final recommendation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of a case or complaint.ORA master’s degree in Public Administration, Sociology, Psychology, or other directly related field

ANDOne (1) year of professional experience in investigation either as an investigator, community liaison/organizer, investigative journalist, auditor or complaint specialist, or other field where you were responsible for conducting investigations. This experience must include initiation, investigation, final recommendation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of a case or complaint.Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, if you possess any of the following specifically include the details on your application, as this information will be used to assess your qualifications and may be used to determine a top group of applicants.Experience with criminal or compliance cases, determining investigation strategy, assembling evidence for case development and prosecution through evidentiary hearings and trial.Knowledge and experience investigating civil rights, consumer fraud or financial investigations.Experience working with underrepresented or marginalized communities.Ability to compile and evaluate complex sets of data using spreadsheets, databases or other tools.Experience with online research and background assessment tools.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.Strong judgment and decision making.Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated flexibility with problem-solving.Strong written and oral communication skills.Conditions of Employment:Applicants must pass a thorough background check process.Position may be required, sometimes on short notice, to work outside of regular business hours, including possible early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight assignments as necessary to conduct fast-paced investigations, and prepare for trial.This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The position will be required to work in office 2-3 days per week.Position must have a valid CO driver’s license and may be required to travel within and outside the State of Colorado.
