The Research, Advanced Prototyping, and Innovative Design (RAPID) Laboratory within the Electro-Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) business is responsible for all materials, FPA, and camera research to advance EOIS technology with government and industry partners. Selected strategic efforts are also executed in the RAPID Lab to accelerate development. RAPID programs tend to be more focused on the early stages of the development process and have quickly evolving technical requirements and goals. The R&D Program Manager for the RAPID Laboratory is responsible for managing the daily execution of a large, complex program or several smaller complex programs in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Candidates must be comfortable working in high-paced environments alongside engineers, scientists, and customers having advanced technical degrees.Job Responsibilities

Monitor the quality of deliverablesOrganize project and task workloadsLead all meetings and the integrated product team (kick-off through project close)Provide interface, communication, and coordination with internal and external customers on matters pertaining to existing contracts and bid and proposal activitiesMay lead bid and proposal activities, ensuring that the requirements of the request for proposal are met in the preparation and documentation of bids and proposalsDevelop new methods for tracking and reporting program status statisticsActively seek new business opportunities in coordination with Business DevelopmentRepresent management at program reviews, meetings, and seminarsMaintain complex and/or challenging customer relationshipsMake recommendations to management on changes, as appropriateBasic Qualifications & Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering field and 5+ years functional or program management experience in a science, engineering, or technical environmentAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, which requires U.S. CitizenshipExperience working directly with engineers and scientists on a project or programAbility to achieve results in a matrixed organizational structure, interfacing and coordinating efforts with various functional groups, including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and FinanceDesired Experience

Master’s or Doctoral degree in the Physical Sciences or Engineering4+ years experience working in a R&D environment such as university or government laboratory, or corporate R&D center5+ years leadership experience managing technology development programsStrong written and verbal communication and presentation skillsTeam player who communicates effectively to promote collaboration across the organizationPrior defense industry experience in the development of electro-opticsPossess an active U.S. security clearance.U.S. Citizenship required.
