Department Summary

Strategy, Planning, and Operations establishes the vision for building partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts with students, faculty, and staff on behalf of the IT organization. This team aligns and manages the IT roadmap, portfolio, programs, and projects with university priorities; and enables an integrated and collaborative approach to organizational change management and communication efforts to meet the needs of the university while recognizing the unique requirements of UCLA's different schools and units. The Strategy, Planning, and Operations Office also manages organizational initiatives and efforts, including general administrative functions, internal communications, talent management, and culture development. The Organizational Change Management and IT Training team manages organizational change by assessing the effects of technological changes on personnel and processes, devising strategies to minimize disturbance, collaborating with stakeholders on change projects such as communications in support of the enterprise project management portfolio, and facilitating the acceptance of change to enhance the value of transformative IT endeavors. Furthermore, organize and execute technology training programs for end-users on various applications and systems.Position Summary

The IT Talent Development Specialist will be responsible for the ongoing learning and development of IT staff at UCLA. This role includes assessing the development needs of the IT workforce and creating, designing, and delivering tailored programs and development content. The Specialist will assess the success of development plans and help employees maximize learning opportunities, leveraging data and analytics to continuously improve programs and track success metrics. They will design and deliver e-learning courses, workshops, and other training formats, and assist managers in developing their team members.The Specialist will help design learning paths that upskill employees through defined career tracks, aligning with broader IT strategic goals and priorities. This role is also responsible for the design, build, and deployment of the ITS Academy—a professional development and training program established by the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. The Academy focuses on the ongoing development of IT staff, aiming to enhance their skills, knowledge, and competencies to better support the university's strategic goals. The IT Talent Development Specialist will work cross-functionally with subject matter experts and managers to define key learning areas and deliver opportunities relevant to the ever-changing technology landscape. By staying updated with the latest innovations and best practices in the IT learning and development landscape, the Specialist will keep programs fresh and relevant, positively impacting UCLA's operations and culture. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students, executing UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation

Three years experience working in one or more of the following fields: learning and development, information technology, human resources, or a related field. (Required)Demonstrated experience creating and executing professional development and onboarding curricula and materials to develop employees’ upskilling. (Required)Five or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: learning and development, information technology, human resources. (Preferred)Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)Demonstrated thorough knowledge of learning and development best practices in an IT organization; advanced knowledge of training requirements for functional areas. (Required)Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Seeks information from multiple, diverse sources. (Required)In-depth knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning tools best equipped for an IT learning environment. Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree in one or more of: learning and development, information technology, human resources, business administration, communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training. (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).The anticipated pay range for this position is $83,000-101,200, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.NOTE: This position REQUIRES that a RESUME and COVER LETTER be submitted in addition to the application.
