Published on: Aug 22, 2024Country: United StatesLocation: Austin, TexasCompany: Luminex CorporationJob Category: OperationsEmployment type: Regular Full TimeJob ScopeThe Sr. Manager, Global Sourcing is responsible for the direction of activities of Global Sourcing group and commodity management for the company and achieve maximum value from our spending while balancing other business requirements including quality, inventory, supplier risk, regulatory compliance, and safety. He/she works with the business to develop a comprehensive approach to sourcing and spend management; direct strategic procurement initiatives; lead supplier engagements around new product introductions and manage contracts and vendor relationships.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide overall leadership to the sourcing, including: strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; new product introduction; value generation initiatives; policies, procedures, and, reporting/communications with executive leadership.Acquire, develop, coach, and mentor a strong, globally focused sourcing organization in alignment to company objectives.Through global partnering, drive long-term cost savings and value improvement projects that deliver win/win value to the company and suppliers.Direct strategies for global direct and indirect spend to improve profitability, asset utilization, inventory levels, and payables performance.Assess external market trends and conditions to identify opportunities and risks in managed spend categories. Structure analysis of spend to enable informed decision-making. Ensure sourcing efforts leverage market intelligence, should-cost modeling, and TCO analysis.Partner closely with R&D in the new product development process. Develop a process to screen, qualify, and select most appropriate supplier for the procurement of materials and supplies in accordance with product specifications by end users.Contract Management - Draft, review, update, and negotiate supplier terms and conditions and maintain active agreements and contracts for all products and services in accordance with company policy, quality standards, SOX requirements, and regulatory compliance.Facilitate contract approval and exception processes. Educate end users about new contracts; track and ensure compliance with approved contracts.In collaboration with the Legal function, develop and maintain template master service agreements and standard terms and conditions for common and/or critical contracting situations.Manage business, market, and supplier risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions.Supplier Management - Build policies and procedures for reviewing supplier performance against contracted obligations/service levels and business expectations.Anticipate and minimize performance issues via creation, monitoring, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).Establish processes for executing and reporting annual cost savings programs to drive improved metrics on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Technology, and Management Commitment. When performance issues emerge, identify root causes and drive to efficient resolution by working across both internal and external stakeholders.New Product Operations – Provide leadership in terms of New Product Introduction; collaborate with various groups around vendor selection process and fully integrating commodity strategy roadmap for new products.Coordinate with Accounting to provide standard costing of all newly requested products or changes to existing products.Report intelligence to leadership regarding the company’s PPV, spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities.Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insights regarding pricing, vendor, and technology trends.Assist the business in planning for key strategic decisions, e.g., new product economics or anticipated CAPEX costs/lead times.Education, Experience, and QualificationsBachelor's Degree Business, Engineering, Science, or equivalent requiredMaster's Degree Business, Engineering, Science, or equivalent preferred5+ Years Experience in a purchasing and/or strategic sourcing role required5+ Years Experience and exposure in the area of Chemistries (oligos, enzymes) and Consumables (injectable plastics, pipette tips, swabs) required5+ Years Experience in a cGMP regulated environment a plus required5+ Years Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities required
