Join our committed team and help shape the future we envision.SummaryPosition Highlights:The Tobacco Treatment Specialist ("TTS") provides direct care to patients and education to patients and their families who currently use or have a history of tobacco use. The TTS oversees the development of the clinical plan for tobacco dependent patients to improve care, reduce the tobacco burden and provide consistency with tobacco treatment processes. The TTS also collaborates with interdisciplinary team members for program referrals and process improvement planning.The Ideal Candidate:Familiarity with principles of adult learning.Professional Knowledge and Skills.Demonstrates advanced cognitive capabilities in the evaluation, diagnosis and planning of treatment for tobacco dependent patients.Ability to provide direction and support for the complex patient and their family to receive proper assistance.Responsibilities:Practice:Provides direct care for the tobacco dependent inpatient and outpatient.Performs assessment with the focus on tobacco use history.Coordinates tobacco treatment plan with appropriate team members for implementation.Consultation: Utilizes tobacco treatment Specialist expertise to provide services to inpatients and outpatients as requested when appropriate.Recommends products for patient use to staff and patients as appropriate.Assists in counseling patients and families in regard to tobacco related issues in areas such as: employment, social activities, sexual function and activities, coping mechanisms, or emotional responses, diet, etc. and/or make referrals to other disciplines as indicated.Participates in patient care and/or discharge planning conferences as needed.Education/Staff Development:Assists in providing educational programs regarding the Tobacco Treatment services offered at the Center to patients, their families and the community.Provides regularly scheduled tobacco treatment teaching to patients and their families.Provides information regarding the tobacco treatment plan of care.Administration/Management:Coordinates review of program and coordinates clinical practices as necessary.Manages marketing efforts to increase awareness of program with patients/families as well as staff. Including special events centered around tobacco cessation monthly awareness.Credentials and Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Nursing or other human services field.Minimum two (2) years’ experience required in counseling, substance addictions, and/or behavior change intervention in a health care setting.Preferred:Master’s Degree - in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Nursing or other human services field.Moffitt Cancer Center is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
