JOB DESCRIPTIONSalesMake sales calls to prospective and existing NAPA jobbers, NAPA DC’s, and end-users. Identify customer needs and develop solutions to profitably grow sales.Develop a regular sales call schedule to ensure that customer needs and expectations are met.Familiarize self with all products, including their application and preparation.Develop sales presentations and promotions to facilitate growth in existing accounts and to open new accounts.Assist customers in proper selection and application of products to develop expert relationships.Work with Key Account Managers, NAPA, and other relevant parties in the creation of sales presentations/promotions for customers.Develop a strategy to grow sales and profits for new and existing customers and strive to meet them. Identify items or product categories that require specific attention.Identify sources of sales leads and follow through on these leads.Maintain discipline in pre-call planning to maximize time. Conduct sales calls accordingly.Determine customer status in the Automotive Finishes Sales Process and what steps are necessary to move the process along.Obtain approval for product placement plans with appropriate contacts (e.g., end user, NAPA jobber, NAPA DC, etc.).Assist distribution sales team in selling Company product lines to end-users to ensure demand for products supplied through NAPA jobber and/or NAPA distribution center.Access product/technical information to support customer application requirements.Complete expense reports at least bi-weekly.Understand servicing NAPA’s strengths and weaknesses and communicate effectively with staff members to ensure commitments are within the Company’s capabilities.Identify potential opportunities/issues.Handle customer complaints within lines of authority and manage the process to resolution.Identify ways to deepen business relationships with customers.Enlist input from Key Account Managers on strategies and opportunities in the marketplace.Schedule periodic meetings with DC Management and Region Sales Manager and conduct these meetings proficiently.Collect and record reliable customer/territory information and estimate individual customer potential in the NAPA Sales Planning (NSP) online application.Conduct competitive product comparisons, identify current competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, and determine NAPA’s competitive advantage.Customer ServiceAssist customers in setup and implementation of mixing systems.Assist with NAPA returns, which may require lifting 50-60 pounds.Assist with opening new NAPA Store when needed, which may require lifting 50-60 pounds on a recurring basis and up to 100 pounds on occasion.Be readily accessible to customers for advice/assistance using Company-issued communication devices.Communicate current sales promotions and new product developments to customers.Build/manage relationships with existing and potential NAPA customers/personnel.Identify potential problems and work through them with the sales support network.Address customer comments and complaints immediately and advise Region Sales Manager.Address backorder issues as needed.Support customers with technical, sales, and marketing assistance as needed.Assist customers in determining inventory levels.Assist in color verification and field color formulations.Learn formal/informal networks of end users, NAPA jobbers, NAPA DCs, and manufacturers to understand procurement flow.Schedule periodic NAPA/end user sales/technical and product knowledge meetings and conduct these meetings proficiently.Accompany and assist NAPA sales force in selling/marketing automotive refinishing products.Additional DutiesConduct customer and market surveys.Assist in servicing NAPA’s physical inventory.Other duties as assigned by Region Sales Manager or as documented on the annual performance appraisal.

RESPONSIBILITIESQUALIFICATIONSPOSITION REQUIREMENTSFORMAL EDUCATION:Required:High school education or equivalent required.Preferred:Prefer a bachelor’s degree in a business/marketing related field.Prior sales experience in a related industry preferred.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:Required:Knowledge of product technology and application usually obtained through one or more years of experience in the Automotive Division or related experience in the Automotive Refinishing Industry.Must have working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and be proficient with general web-based applications.Ability to work all scheduled hours as needed.Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record from the State Motor Vehicle Bureau.Must be licensed to operate a vehicle in accordance with state law, including a commercial driver’s license if required.Preferred:Some sales experience in coatings or related field is preferred.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:50%EMPLOYER DESCRIPTIONAt Sherwin-Williams, we believe there’s not one path to success; we believe in careers that grow with you.
