By supporting businesses through equitable enforcement and access to resources and, by helping to resolve complaints, DCWP protects the marketplace from predatory practices and strives to create a culture of compliance.DCWP seeks an experienced General Services Director to oversee the agency’s General Services unit. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain high-level operations and administrative experience and enhance their project management and supervisory skills.Responsibilities include:

Plan, direct, and preside over the daily activities of the General Services team.Ensure each agency site is maintained, safe, and accessible to DCWP staff.Direct the General Services staff to conduct safety assessments and make light repairs if necessary.Oversee the Fleet Coordinator responsible for managing and maintaining the agency’s fleet.Oversee the mailroom responsible for print requests, incoming mail, messenger runs, and mass mailings.Prepare and submit purchase requests related to facilities, fleet, and correspondence purchases.Manage invoices and approval for payments related to facilities purchases.Prepare and administer the General Services operating budget.Work with stakeholders to create and update workplace safety policies.Work with the Human Capital team to ensure that the agency remains in compliance with relevant city, state and federal laws for workplace safety.Oversee the development of policies and protocols for General Services.The candidate must be able to work outside normal business hours and perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative and judgment.Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and five years of full-time paid experience requiring general knowledge of construction and construction costs, electronic data processing equipment, telephone communications systems, building standards and leasing procedures, in the evaluation and layout of space in office buildings, garages and other structures used for commercial and industrial purposes, at least two years of which shall have been of a supervisory nature; orHigh school graduation or evidence of having passed an examination for a high school equivalency diploma or the U.S. Armed Forces G.E.D. certificate with a score of at least 35 on each of the five tests and an overall score of at least 225 in the examination for the diploma or certificate, plus nine years of full-time paid experience as described in (1) above, at least two years of which shall have been of a supervisory nature; orA satisfactory equivalent. However, all candidates must be high school graduates or possess the equivalent as described in (2) above and must have at least two years of supervisory experience as described in (1) above.Preferred Skills

A valid New York State Drivers License.Knowledge of New York City safety and workplace violence prevention policies/standards.Excellent customer service skills.Policy research and development experience.Strong analytical, research and writing skills and the ability to be a clear communicator both orally and in writing.Ability to work independently and creatively and to adapt in a fast-paced office environment.Strong organizational skills including experience working with Microsoft Office, a range of databases, and other software tools.Experience handling multiple assignments with competing deadlines with a high degree of detail, accuracy, and efficiency.55a Program
