We amplify our collective impact by celebrating different perspectives and embracing inclusion.StructureThe Assistant Director, Foundation Relations, is an exempt (salary) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and reports to the Senior Director of Foundation Relations.FocusThe Assistant Director of Development, Foundation Relations, will be responsible for the identification, solicitation, and stewardship of foundations that are major gift prospects for the University of Cincinnati. This individual will provide strategic planning for a portfolio of regional and national charitable grant-makers with award capacities of at least $25K, and drive toward a goal of increasing gifts in the $100K to $1M+ range.Specific DutiesWork directly with board members and staff of local and national charitable foundations to learn their priorities and develop trusting and fruitful relationships.Communicate with the foundations in their portfolio to keep them informed about the University of Cincinnati and its programs.Identify and research potential grant funding sources to support the priorities and needs of the colleges and programs of the University.Write and submit in a timely manner, funding proposals, letters of intent, cover letters and marketing cases for support.Oversee collaborative foundation fundraising projects at multiple colleges while initiating strategies to expand the donor pipeline and deepen the culture of philanthropy to sustain and grow the school’s impact.Leverage existing processes and tools for tracking and reporting gift officer metrics to effectively manage their fundraising performance.Personally build and manage a portfolio of 60-75 major gift prospects to generate $1-1.5M annually.Contribute to special projects and be prepared to attend and present on behalf of the Director at leadership meetings as needed.Provide proposal editing and feedback to faculty and others as needed.Responsible for all aspects of proposal preparation and submission.Responsible for writing and submitting grant reports to donors for previously funded projects.Adhere to the UC Foundation’s policies and processes of prospect management to ensure coordination with all units and programs at the University.Maintain quality donor files, including timely submission of contact reports in the Foundation database.Use Foundation Center database and other resources to compile individual foundation prospect profiles upon request.Contribute to bi-weekly RFP list from announcements sent by the Foundation Center and other sources for distribution to faculty and staff at UC.Other duties, as assigned.RequirementsBachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of progressive accomplishment in fundraising and a proven track record of major gifts.Demonstrated successful experience in grant writing.Excellent writing and editing skills.Strong verbal communication skills and ability to effectively build and sustain good collaborative relationships with donors, colleagues, volunteers, college personnel, and other constituencies in a professional manner.Strong organizational skills, including setting priorities and meeting deadlines, managing details accurately, and following through in a timely manner.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, e-mail, web-related activities, and database management.What We OfferThe anticipated starting salary range for the Assistant Director, Foundation Relations role is $52,000 - $65,000 annually.
