Pioneer Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, essentially the county hospital for Sweet Grass County, Montana: Population 3700. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We serve our neighbors (ranchers, skilled trades people and active retirees) and the many tourists who come here on their way to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, or to fish the Yellowstone, hike, bike, hunt or just get away from overcrowded places. Our schools are highly rated, with high community support.Pioneer Medical Center has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing to join our hospital's nursing team.PURPOSE/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) provides leadership and supervision in the management of nursing practice and operations on the Critical Access Hospital, Emergency Department. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of: nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, staffing, employee performance, quality improvement, staff education, medical records documentation, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for overall operations of nursing and patient services for the following departments: Emergency, Critical Access Hospital, Ambulance Service and Assisted Living Facility. In addition, the oversight of staff involved in Infection Prevention, Case Management, Emergency Preparedness, Trauma Program, Nurse Informatics Specialist.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.Coordinates the activities of managed departments with other departments; promotes and maintains harmonious relationships between managed departments, other departments, and Medical Staff in order to maintain an optimum level of patient care.Attends assigned meetings, committee meetings, professional conferences, and maintains professional membership.Maintains records and reports pertinent to areas of responsibility.Ensures quality delivery of hospital nursing and nursing support services.Works with the Director of Nursing to facilitate orientation and trainings, and other education opportunities to assure best practices are being utilized. Plans for and anticipates changes and subsequent adaptations.Develops, maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.Collaborates with physicians, other clinicians, community agencies and organizations to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.Promotes customer service and responds to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from patients or families about nursing or clinical care.Coordinates and/or develops ongoing quality improvement activities along Quality RN for nursing services to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements through rounding, interview and documentation review. Demonstrates knowledge and application of CMS clinical quality and HCAHPS indicators.Coordinates with other departments to standardize practices, processes and equipment.Mentors and coaches staff and leaders throughout the organization.Responsible for overseeing Interdisciplinary Department Teams (IDT) meetings for the CAH patients/team members and directing evidence-based practice plans of care.Develops proficient working knowledge of Cerner and assist in training staff assuring consistency, compliance, and evolution of documentation workflows within the EHR (Cerner) in collaboration with the DON and Quality RN, as needed.Coordinates scheduling and staffing to ensure sufficient coverage. Works closely with the DON in projecting staffing needs. Assists with time off requests and posting schedules. Assists with filling unexpected openings in the schedule.Assists DON with Human Resource activities such as interviewing and evaluating new staff.Performs chart audits and reviews for Quality purposes.Responsible for overseeing Interdisciplinary Department Teams (IDT) meetings for the CAH patients/team members and directing evidence-based practice plans of care.Assist with patient rounding and patient care as needed.Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards as it relates to the environment, employee and patient/resident safety.Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development.Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Normal patient care environment in Critical Access Hospital.Practices within the scope of RN licensure.May be required to work varying shifts, weekends and/or holidays. May be required to float to areas of need.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current active and in good standing Montana RN license.BLS, ACLS, PALS certification, or able to obtain within 1 year of hire.Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities will be consideredNursing management experience (preferred)WORKING CONDITIONS:
